Leona K. Herr, 87, of 1421 N. 8th Street, died Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 2007 after a short stay at Morningside Health Center. Leona was born October 2, 1919 in Nebraska to Alexander and Katherine (Balzer) Miller. When she was young her family relocated to Sheboygan where she attended local schools. On October 9, 1948 Leona was united in marriage to Robert J. Herr at Fountain Park United Brethren Church. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1980. For over twenty years Leona was employed at Wigwam Mills. She was a faithful member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church and the Happy Hearts Club. She enjoyed crocheting and was a wonderful homemaker, totally dedicated to her family. She loved cooking and sharing great times with them, especially her grandchildren. Leona is survived by two sons, Alan (Pam) Herr and James (Cindy) Herr, one daughter, Diane (Michael) Warner, all of Sheboygan; six grandchildren, Whitney Herr, Abigail Herr, Tyler (SJ) Herr, Sara Herr, Susan Warner, and Lisa (Richard) Hauer; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Hauer and Cassandra Warner; a sister Betty Radke of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Leona was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Miller; five sisters, Lydia Herman, Nellie Schrader, Mildred Horst, Hilda Guenther, and Sally Ibe; one grandson, Nathan Herr; and one great-grandson, Jaymon Hauer. Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels. Rev. Kerry Wilson, Pastor of Fountain Park United Methodist Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 12 Noon until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at St. Nicholas Hospital and Morningside Health Center for their care and support these last few months. Leona will always be remembered for the love she shared with her family. She will be missed.
