Hi Kay, I'm not sure if it's relevant as it's 10 years later, but my great-grandfather came to the US from Hussenbach in 1907. In recorded tapes, great-grandpa says that they traveled from Hussenbach to Saratov to get papers and their passports. From there, they took a train to Bremen, Germany where they waited for 10 days for their boat. They actually traveled from Bremen directly to Baltimore, MD. I don't think it was uncommon for relatives or others in the community to help pay for tickets over. I know that on my dad's side of the family, a church congregation helped raise money to bring some of the family members over. Hope that helps a bit. Would that have been 2 different ships? All these questions relate to my grandparents' journey to America and no details. I haven't been able to discover their actual ship manifest, port city etc. I have the time frame pinned down to a 3 month period by certain Clues. They would have been traveling from Beideck, with a baby, to Newark, NJ. We heard that a former Beidecker paid their way and they lived there and Grandfather worked for them. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
