Miriam, You really need to narrow your search down a bit. I found at least nineteen (19) Hardt's listed in my "1798 Census of the German Colonies along the Volga" reference. My wife has been researching the Steffen name from the Holsen/Holzen, Westphalia, Bunde, part of Germany. Here again, the surname was quite common. Don Loose Warren, Mich.
