    3. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 25 Jan 2007 Darlyne Joy Steinmetz, 73, passed away peacefully the evening of Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at home, surrounded by her loving daughter Lori and primary caregiver Dawn. Darlyne was born in Billings to her parents, Ameila (Weigand) and Ed Schleining, on May 29, 1933. She attended grade schools in Bayview, Idaho; Thomas, Wash.; and Billings (Garfield school), and high school in Billings. As a child, she was baptized and confirmed at the Pilgrim Congregational Church. After graduating from Billings Senior High School, she married Lawrence Steinmetz on March 30, 1952. They were divorced after 24 years of marriage. They were blessed with four children, twins Larry Dean and Lori Dawn, Edward Scott and Michael George. All completed their higher education with advanced degrees from either Gonzaga University, Spokane Wash., or Montana State University, Bozeman. Darlyne's life was devoted to raising her family and caring for her parents, especially in their later years. Darlyne will be remembered by her winning smile, great sense of humor, warm and generous heart, tremendous courage and her ability to make everyone she met feel special. She gave unselfishly from her heart and expected nothing in return. Many times, she did without so others wouldn't have to. The many friendships she made along the way were lifelong ones. She was a wonderful cook and avid gardener with a special love for growing roses. Darlyne loved all kinds of music and loved to dance - and she was really good at it. Throughout her life, Darlyne held a variety of employment positions and truly enjoyed the many people she came into contact with. Darlyne is survived by her children, twins Larry of Spokane and Lori of Fromberg, Edward and grandson Alex of Valleyford, Wash., and Michael (Ardis) and grandchildren Dillon and Shannon of Livingston; sister Doris (Vic) Redinger of Billings and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dwight Hager at the St. V's Laurel Clinic for his kind and compassionate care provided to Darlyne and to her wonderful caregivers, Dawn Braaten, Cora Brumbaugh and Katy Colter for their kind and loving care. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, at Smith's West Chapel, 304 34th St. West, in Billings, with interment to follow at Mountview Cemetery. Those wishing to do so may send memorials to Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th, Billings, MT 59102.
