    3. Historic passenger lists of ships go online: http://news.com.com/Historic+passenger+lists+of+ships+go+online/2100-1047_3-6148931.html I know this will help me as I found my grandfather coming from Halifax to Boston but cannot find him entering Halifax and I am hoping it was from an English port so maybe I will find the ship he was returning home on. 3. Elaine, I would recommend that you check in what is know as the St. Albans List. It is available on microfilm at any LDS Family History Center. This list is a compolation of index cards that tell where the individual came from in Europe prior to coming to Canada and ultimately the United States. You need to be aware that just because they landed in Halifax does not necessaryily mean that they sailed from an English or Irish port. Most steamship lines started there voyage on the European continent and proceed either directly to the Canada or stopped in either England or Ireland or both on the way to Canada. I would say because they landed in Halifax you might consider that they probably landed during the winter. Halifax was a major point of entry during the winter because the St. Lawrence Seaway was frozen over although passengers did disembark the year round. The St. Albans List is soundexed by years.
