Billings Gazette Billings, MT 2 Sep 2007 Emerick, Eugene "Gene" After a long illness, Gene went to be with the Lord on Aug. 30, 2007. He passed away at his home with family and friends at his side. Gene was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Billings to Carl and Lena (Youck) Emerick. He grew up in the Billings area and remained as a lifelong resident of Billings. Gene was baptized on April 8, 1929. He was confirmed on Jan. 11, 2004, at Christ The King Lutheran Church. He served time in the U.S. Army. Gene was employed at the Billings Dairy, Pierce Packing, Northern Pacific Railroad and operated his own gas station called the North 27th Street Exxon while doing snow removal for local businesses during the winter months. He was also a farmer in the Snowy Mountain area. On Oct. 27, 1956, he married Katherine Kaufman. They were married for 44 years. She passed away on Oct. 3, 2000. He later married his friend and companion Helen L. Zier on May 8, 2003. Survivors include his loving wife, Helen; brother, Leroy; numerous nieces and nephews; family, and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores and brother, Walter. Funeral services are to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church with burial at Mountview Cemetery.
