Victor was born August 2, 1915 in Sheboygan, the youngest of four boys, to Christian and Juliana (Spies) Ehlert, German-Russian immigrants. He was a lifelong, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, having been baptized, educated, confirmed, and married there. He was a graduate of Sheboygan High School, Class of 1934. After graduation Vic began his thirty-seven year employment with Verifine Dairy, starting in the ice cream manufacturing division. It was there that he met the love of his life and also lifelong member of Trinity, Lillian Kunstmann. They were united in marriage on February 26, 1938 at the Trinity Church Parsonage. During WW II, Vic proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Navy, stationed in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Manatee. After his honorable discharge, he resumed his employment at Verifine Dairy as a milk deliveryman, semi driver, and retired in 1973 from the sales division. He then worked part time at the Sheboygan Glass Co. for seven years. He was a member of the Teamster's Local #75 – Retiree Club. In his younger years Vic enjoyed perch fishing on the North pier. He also took many great annual fishing trips to Canada with friends and family. After retirement Vic and Lil often traveled to Florida and attended many reunions with Vic's US Navy buddies. After nearly sixty-two years of a wonderful marriage, Lillian preceded him in death on January 24, 2000. Vic is survived by his son, Scott Ehlert of Kohler; his daughter, Julianne Ehlert of New Holstein; his grandson, V.J. Bradley Zibung and his granddaughter, Rebecca Zibung, both of Chicago; a niece, Marion (Jack) Theune of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, John, and Edward. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Timothy J. Mech, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels and at the church Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Vic's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the great staff at Meadow View Manor for their diligence and care over the years. A special thank you to Vic's faithful friends, Jake, Sonny and John, for all those Wednesday morning visits which meant so much to him. Vic will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, his quick wit, and strength of character. His loyalty to his wife through the years served as an example of the true meaning of love. He was an inspiration to his family and the values he instilled in his grandchildren will guide their lives forever. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him. email condolences to support@ballhornchapels.com The Sheboygan Press April 28, 2007
