Billings Gazette Billings, MT 10 Mar 2007 Florence C. Ostermiller was born on Aug. 11, 1915, in Page, N.D., to Lester and Helen Yetter. She passed away on March 7, 2007, in Billings. Florence lived in and around the Billings area most of her life. She was a hard worker, working as a cook at the Angle Inn, Center Lanes and 4B's Cafeteria. Florence was head cook at 4B's at the time of her retirement. Mom loved playing cards, working crossword puzzles and watching baseball and game shows on television and traveling to visit her children. Florence may have been short in stature but was always a strong person in raising six children on her own after her husband passed away in 1955. As a longtime member of the BPOE, she performed on the women's drill team, competing through the state of Montana. Mom loved bowling and played on many leagues with her sister Mary. They were very good bowlers and won many trophies. Florence married Jake Ostermiller in 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1955. Also preceding her in death was her loving son, Donald; brothers, John, LeRoy, George, Joe, Maurice, Charles and Everette Yetter; sisters, Mary McBride, Rosalie Baugh, Mildred McCoy and Edith Warren. Mom is survived by her children, Bill (Beverly) Ostermiller, Dan (Diane) Ostermiller, Judith Ostermiller, Nancy (Brent) Carmack, Sharyn Hansen; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are brothers, Ben and Wayne Yetter; and sisters, Helen Schumaker and Doris Garvis. The family would like to thank our sister Sharyn for the loving care and companionship she has given Mom during her last years. Also thanking Big Sky Hospice for their dedicated loving care, comfort and support for our dear mother. Viewing will be held 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Smith's Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th. Interment will be held at Mountview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Big Sky Hospice, PO Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.
