Hi Carla. Others have probably already responded to your question, but just in case ... My guess is that Wols Raya and Walskaya refer to the same place ... Kukkus. Its Russian name was Wolskoje which probably got spelled several different ways. Kukkus would have been a regional administrative center, and probably the parish center, for Jost. It says: "Adam was baptized August 5, 1981 and confirmed October 5, 1990, Wols Raya, Russia....Marie was baptized April 13, 1886 and confirmed May 21, 1901, Walskaya, Russia." Here is my question, what or where or who is Wols Raya and Walskaya? Both of my great grandparents were born in Jost/Yost so I'm not sure what this means. Minister's names, other villages? Also, if any of you are descendants of Adam and Marie Metzler from Jost and you have information or pictures, contact me. I would agree with Dick as my grandparents were both confirmed in Wolskaja. They were born in Stepnaja which is close to Kukkus/Wolskaja.
