Reporter herald Loveland, Colorado Publish date: 7/11/2007 ChristinaSCHLEIGER , 98, of Berthoud, Colo., died July 10, 2007, at McKee Hospice Center in Loveland. She was born June 24, 1909, in Norka, Russia, to John and Elizabeth Rothermel Kaiser. At age 4, she came to the United States with her parents. She married John Schleiger Jr. on May 4, 1929, in Loveland. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1988. She and her husband farmed east of Berthoud most of their married life and spent their retirement living in Berthoud. Most of her life was spent living in and around Berthoud. She is survived by two sons, Robert Schleiger and wife Arlis of Loveland, and Kenneth Schleiger and wife Virginia of Berthoud. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Max Schaal of Berthoud. Sisters, Pauline Sterkel of Berthoud, Leona Hutton and Lorene Hartung, both of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Marjorie Schaal, and two brothers, Adam and George Kaiser. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, First United Methodist Church of Berthoud, with Rev. Stephanie Munoz officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
