Bauer, Gloria J., Jan. 23, 1941-July 3, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 8 Jul2014 Age: 73 Residence: Eaton Gloria J. Bauer went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was born Jan. 23, 1941, to Clyde and Adeline (Decker) Chambers in Denver. She lived her early life in the Commerce City area and graduated from Adams City High School in 1959. After high school, Gloria attended beauty college. In May of 1960, she married Ronald Geist of Denver. They moved to Cheyenne, where they lived for about 8 years. Gloria then married Jack Bauer, the love of her life, on Feb. 12, 1970. Soon after they married they moved to Greeley. They have made the Greeley/Eaton area their home ever since. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandma and homemaker. She kept busy with six children and their friends who also called her Mom. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Gloria was always open for a fun night of playing cards and telling stories. She could often be found in her yard tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and snow birding during the winter months. Together, she and Jack visited all lower 48 states and have vacationed in Hawaii, Mexico and Caribbean cruises. Gloria was an active member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She volunteered countless hours doing fundraisers for the Wounded Warriors Project and helped with an annual VFW poker run. She will be remembered for her no talent shows that she co-chaired for many years. Gloria is survived by her family; husband, Jack Bauer of Eaton; six children, Kevin (Elsa) Bauer of Lexington Park, Md., Laura (Jim) Janssen of Sibley, Iowa, Greg (Charlene) Bauer of Wellington, Jackie (Shawn) Murphy of Loveland, Lisa (Scott) Seeley of Greeley, and Kirk (Carrie) Bauer of Windsor; 13 grandchildren, Jason Rodriguez, Chris Rodriguez, Kevin Bauer II, Kristen Rollins, Jeremy Bauer, Jacob Bauer, Jessica Coppens, Derek Ogden, Dustin Ogden, Eric Seeley, Erin Seeley, McAlister LaFrance and McKayla Bauer; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Leroy Chambers of Platteville; sisters, Dorothy Ziebarth of Thornton, and Barbara Fohrd of Arvada; and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Adeline Chambers; father, Clyde Chambers; sister, Shirley Howell; and beloved grandson, Justin Bauer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel.
