Amen , Harry, May 31, 1923-July 23, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 27 Jul 2014 Age: 91 Residence: Hudson Harry Edward Amen, 91, of Hudson, passed away on July 23, 2014, at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on May 31, 1923 in Windsor to John and Katherine (Heimbichner) Erbes. After his father’s death in 1924 in a car accident, his mother married John Amen, and they lived in Loveland until moving to Prospect Valley in 1936. Harry graduated from Prospect Valley High School in 1943 and farmed in the Prospect Valley area. He married Mary Sue Stephenson on Feb. 3, 1951 in Calhoun, Tenn., after a three-day romance. They lived and farmed for a year in Hudson, before moving to the Prospect Valley area where they farmed and raised their family of three children, Joe, Suzan and John. They lived in Prospect Valley and surrounding communities until they moved to Longmont in 1973 and farmed until Harry’s retirement in 1986, when they moved to Loveland. They moved back to Hudson in 1996 to be closer to family, and Harry helped with his sons’ farming operations until the last few years. Harry loved the farm and spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, though he had to wait for a good hailstorm to take off during the summer. He was always patient with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind and quiet man, though he had an ornery streak at times and loved a good laugh. He belonged to the Colorado Beet Growers Association and Roggen Farmer’s Elevator Association. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Keenesburg. Harry is survived by his wife and soul-mate of 63 years, Mary Sue Amen, Hudson; sons, Joe (Sandi) Amen, Hudson; John (Paula) Amen, Hudson; daughter, Suzan (Robert) Lewis, Brighton; sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Belk, Athens, Tenn., and Betty (Al) Mitro, Parma, Ohio; brother, Bill (Theresa) Amen, Arvada, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) Oviatt, Edward (E.
