Brunner, Alexander, August 11, 1929- July 23, 2014 Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 25 Jul 2014 Alexander “Alex” Brunner, 84, of Gering, passed away Wednesday, July 23, at his home. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes and services will be schedule at a later time. Memorials may be made in care of the family to be designated at a later date. Alex was born August 11, 1929 in Scotts Bluff County to Alexander and Mary (Gerlock) Brunner. Alex joined the United States Navy in 1947. He served aboard the U.S.S. Iowa during his enlistment and was honorably discharged on August 22 of 1949. Alex married June Kay Woith on February 11, 1951. Four children were born into this union: Linda, Terry, Steve, and Tim. Alex was employed by Great Western Sugar until his retirement in 1992. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, June of Gering; daughter, Linda Lee Brunner of Central City, NE; sons, Terry Brunner of Gering, Steve Brunner of Scottsbluff and Tim (Vicki) Brunner of Scottsbluff; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Preceding Alex in death were his parents.
