Bott, Helen Z., Nov. 4, 1920- Jan. 3, 2014 Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 7 Jan 2014 Helen Z. Bott, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. The casket will be open at the church one hour prior to service time. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Helen was born to Adam and Eva (Eckert) Zitterkopf in Harrington, Kan. on Nov. 4, 1920. Her family moved to the North Platte Valley area where she attended various country schools. She met Harold Bott at a dance at the Scottsbluff Airport when he was on a 3 day leave. He tapped her on the shoulder and asked her if she wanted to dance. They began dating and soon married on Nov. 4, 1947 in Scottsbluff. Helen worked for the Sugar Factory in the 1960s. Along with Harold, Helen enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping in their motor home, driving all over the United States together. She especially enjoyed their trip to Niagara Falls. She always held dear all of her special memories of times spent together with Harold. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1972, a milestone she felt very blessed to share with her husband, family, and friends. She and Harold had 41 years of marriage together before his passing in 1988. Helens children, grand children and great-grandchildren always held a very loving place in her heart as well. She found enjoyment in cooking and gardening, along with making cabbage burgers with all her wonderful friends at Salem Study Circle. Helen enjoyed playing pinochle, being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Fire Department Auxiliary. Helen is survived by her daughter, Evonn and her husband Doug Carter from Scottsbluff; sister, Esther Eckhardt from North Platte; grandchildren, David Carter of Gering, Tera Carter of Scottsbluff; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn and Cody Sherfey, and Austin Van Winkle; and sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Wilma Zitterkopf, both of Scottsbluff. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Bott; sisters, Elizabeth Fields, Katheryn Haberman, Elsie Dutzer, Alma Wells; and brothers, Jack and Albert Zitterkopf.
