Bruntz, David A., July 7, 1928-Sept. 3, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 6 Sep 2014 Age: 86 Residence: La Salle David A. Bruntz of La Salle passed away on Sept. 3, 2014. He was born to Adam and Minnie Bruntz on July 7, 1928, at their family farm in LaSalle. He married Violet C. Deutscher of Greeley, in St. Francis, Kan., on May 15, 1946. After his service in the U.S. Navy, Dave and Violet moved back onto the family farm in LaSalle, where for over 50 years they ran a small dairy farm, lived, loved, raised their family, and were part of the Beebe Draw community. Dave was born and lived on or adjacent to the family farm his entire life until his death. He farmed many years with, as well as shared a close relationship, with his brother Ed and his family. He attended school at Beebe Draw. One of the memories Dave often shared was remembering as a young man working for Meadow Gold and delivering milk to the German Prisoner of War camp west of Greeley. The prisoners enjoyed immensely talking with him in German. Dave and Violet enjoyed traveling and some of the most memorable trips included visiting Europe through a trip sponsored by the extension service; several family trips to Disney World in Florida; multiple trips to Hawaii; traveling to national bowling tournaments, and numerous visits to Branson, Mo. with their close friends Charlene and Ray Meisinger. Family gatherings and time spent with family were important to Dave and later on he enjoyed gathering at McDonalds with friends. Dave and Violet through the years were actively involved in the local Germans from Russia group. Daves only real regret in life was that he was forced to leave school after eighth grade to work on the family farm. The lack of formal education did not deter him from becoming successful but led to his passion that his children would have the opportunity for a formal education. He is survived by two sons, Rodney A. Bruntz, and Dr. Stanley D. Bruntz (Beverly); seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (including one recently born on his birthday); and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Violet; brothers, Adam, Edward and Sam Bruntz; sisters, Effie Lammers, Dolly Foss, Hannah Kauffman, Marie Alles, Leah Walters, and Martha Steinmetz; daughter-in-law, Judy; and grandson, David Robert. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, 702 13th St., Greeley CO.
