Lofing, Betty, March 20, 1931- September 7, 2014 Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 10 Sep 2014 Betty Jean (Baltes) Lofing, 83, of Gering, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering with Reverend Richard Neugebauer officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation is scheduled from 11am until 7pm on Thursday at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Bettys honor be made in care of the church or the Legacy of the Plains Museum. Betty was born on March 20, 1931 to Jerome and Muriel (Myers) Baltes in Minatare, NE. She attended Lake Minatare grade school and graduated from Minatare High School in 1949. She married William Bill Lofing on January 29, 1950 in Scottsbluff. She has lived south of Gering since August 15, 1950. Betty was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Gering and member of the LWML. We all have our individual stories and memories of our dear sweet Betty. We will all grasp blindly for the words left unspoken to her for all she gave to us. But in spite of this she had that special thread that weaved us all together to fulfill her legacy of who she truly was; A Caring Giver! Betty is survived by her sons Terry A. Lofing of Gering, Perry G. Lofing of Gering and special friend Karen A. Helling of Scottsbluff; daughter Shelley R. (Bob) DeBoer of Gering; special grandson Seth William DeBoer of Gering; and sister Roma Mae (John) Nuss of Gering. Her parents, husband William Bill Lofing, sister JoDeen Blum and brother Dale Baltes preceded her in death.
