Schmunk, Eugene, August 3, 1936- September 28, 2014 Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 30 Sep 2014 Eugene W. Schmunk, 78, of rural Morrill, NE, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Gary Cole and Pastor James Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. Visitation will be Wednesday at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell from 3pm until 7pm. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Eugene’s honor be made in care of the family. Eugene was born August 3, 1936 in Scottsbluff to Henry and Esther (Walter) Schmunk. Eugene was born and raised on the family farm outside of Morrill, where he helped his dad farm and raise cattle until he became ill in 1994. He enjoyed riding horses, driving tractors, watching old western movies and spending time with his niece and nephew. He will be greatly missed by his family. Survivors include his sister, Pam and brother-in-law Don Weinmeister of Morrill; nephew Patrick Weinmeister of Morrill; niece Jennifer Gaul and (Joseph) of Morrill and great nephews Bryson, Chris, and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Henry and his brother, Gary.
