Lofing, Harvey Gene, April 4, 1932- Dec. 22, 2014   Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 23 Dec 2014     MINATARE — Harvey Gene Lofing, 82, of Minatare, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at his home. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering with Pastor Richard Neugebauer officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Harvey’s honor be made in care of the church or to Festival of Hope. Harvey was born April 4, 1932 in Gering to Conrad and Katherine (Brehm) Lofing. He received his education in several schools in the Minatare area. He served his country in the U.S. Army in 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Della Hamilton on June 17, 1955 in Scottsbluff. They lived and farmed in Central City from 1956 – 1973 until moving north of Minatare where they farmed from 1973 until present day. Harvey enjoyed working with his cows/calves for over 58 years. He enjoyed his antique tractors, was secretary for the Minatare Canal for several years and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Gering. He is survived by his wife Della; sons Allan Gene Lofing and Gary Lee (Susan) Lofing, and daughter Karen Lynn (Gary) Koke all of Minatare; grandchildren Amanda Lofing, Nathan Lofing, Adam Koke and fiancé Adrianna Lindgren, Justin (Jontae) Koke, and Tyler Koke, sisters Leah Dolberg, Wilma (Keith) Piester and Jo Ann (Donald) Ramig; sisters-in-law Edna Lofing and Joy Lofing; and numerous nieces and nephews. His siblings Katherine (Fred) Schlager, William (Betty) Lofing, Helen (Alex) Margheim, Frieda (Harold) Goodschmidt, Harry (Delores) Lofing, Clarence (Shirley) Lofing, Floyd Lofing and Robert Lofing preceded him in death.
