She moved to Bayard in 1951 and graduated from Bayard Schools. She married the love of her life, Vernon LeRoy Hubbard, on June 30, 1957 in Bayard and to this union four children were born. Later, Gladys attended beauty school before working as a lab tech for several years for Dr. Carl Frank. Gladys and Vern started an in-home daycare in 1986, eventually caring for over 50 children including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many of the children she watched still refer to her as grandma to this day. First and foremost, Gladys loved to spend time with her family, especially at family traditions including the annual Christmas Eve celebration. She attended her childrens and grandchildrens sports events, dance recitals, music performances, 4-H events, birthdays, family holidays, and get-togethers. Gladys loved her family very much. She never minced words and said exactly what she thought and what was on her heart. Her sense of humor could brighten the day and she made anyone who entered her home part of her family. Gladys preferred to give rather than to receive. She always put others needs first and made herself available no matter the day or hour. Survivors include her children, Vicki (Kurt) Weber of Gering, Doug (Lanna) Hubbard of Mitchell, Nancy (Wayne) Dillman of Scottsbluff, and Jennifer (Ron) Eskam of Gering; sister, Virginia (Dennis) Larson; brother, Louie Sonny (Betty) Sauer; grandchildren, Jessica (Wayne), Matthew, Ashley, Rebecca, Kenna (Chris), Bethany (Hamidou), Andrea (Brad), Nicholas, Kelsey (AJ), Cassandra, Keelyn, Kaden; and great-grandchildren, Dru, Devon, Elli, Jadon, Jonah, Lilly, Aubree, Kinley, Quinten, Axton, Addison, Konnar, Ryder; in-laws, Fred Quindt, Herschel & Betty Hubbard, Larry & Mary Lee Hubbard, Bessie Hubbard, JoAnn Keys, Don & Shirley Collamore; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gladys is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
