Rick was born August 14, 1953 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Leo and Delores (Stricker) Lackman. He was left an orphan by age 6 and was raised by his paternal grandparents Jake and Emma Lackman. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in Huntley, Wyoming. He married his high school sweetheart, Katherine Elaine Schauerman, March 11, 1973. They continued to reside on the family farm and to this union they were blessed with three daughters Rebecca, Shannon and Stacie. Rick was a very proud farmer, continuing his skill until moving to Torrington in the summer of 2004. He really took to town life, and enjoyed the new home purchased with the love of his life, Kathy. He loved to have big barbeques with his family and holidays together there. Rick was employed at St. Josephs Childrens Home at the time of his passing. He enjoyed each and every one of his co-workers and the children he worked with. Rick had a big heart and was thought of fondly by many. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren. He was always trying to make it to all the grandchildrens programs and sporting events, no matter where the destination. He was and will always be their PaPa Ricky! He also took a great deal of pride in his 2011 Chevy Camaro and supporting the Nebraska Lottery. He found great joy in showing off his car at the local truck stop TTT and giving people rides in his hot rod. His greatest love of all was his soul mate, Kathy, who lost her battle to leukemia on June 20, 2010. It gives great comfort to know that they are resting peacefully together for eternity. His love, laughter and big hugs will be greatly missed by all. Rick is survived by his three daughters Rebecca and husband Dean Prall of Torrington, Wyoming, Shannon and husband Miles Miller of Douglas, Wyoming, Stacie and husband Tylen Werkele of Douglas, Wyoming; nine extremely special grandchildren Zach, Mackenzie, Ty, Mason, Chelsea, Dillan, Brayden, Kaden, Boden; his step-mom, Lorraine Funk, mom, Dorothy Schauerman, sister, Diane and husband Dean Clyncke, brother, Donald Schauerman, sister, Mary Ann Schauerman; uncle, Jack and wife Audrey Lackman; special friends Ed and wife Brenda Weglin, along with numerous other family and friends.
