Selleck, Dean Burton, April 11, 1921-April 18, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 2 May 2014 Age: 93 Residence: Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Greeley Dean Burton Selleck, 93, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away April 18, 2014. He was born April 11, 1921, to Helen and Herbert Hiram Selleck in Broadwater, Neb. Dean graduated from Broadwater High School in 1938, and completed his undergraduate degree from Colorado A&M (Colorado State University) in 1942. Upon the completion of his undergraduate studies, Dean enlisted in the military and served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war ended, Dean returned to Colorado A&M and completed his masters degree. He worked as an agricultural nutritionist for Warren H. Monforts feedlot in Greeley, and later for Farr Better Feeds, a subsidiary of W. R. Grace. In addition, he continued to help oversee his familys cattle ranch, located in Morrill County, Neb., until the family sold the business in 1993. Dean married Shirley Lee Trout of Denver in 1962 and spent the next 34 years enjoying life with her until Shirleys death in 1996. Dean and Shirley enjoyed traveling, especially to Jamaica, Mexico, and Hawaii. In addition, they were avid skiers and enjoyed hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Dean and Shirley were members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Longmont, and the Longmont Bridge Club. He was also a member and past president of the Greeley T-Bone Club. Dean is survived by his daughter, Darcy Selleck Moran of Phoenix, her spouse, Jim, and their children, Dylan, Drake, and Jake; his son, Steve of Longmont, his spouse, Lisa, and their children, Zachary, Nicholas, and Lukas; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and his brothers, Herbert and Everett. Private memorial service will be held. Memorial gifts may be made to Sage Hospice & Palliative Care, 5111 N.
