Hettinger, Jerry Allen, May 12, 1946-April 7, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Col;orado 14 May 2014 Age: 67 Residence: Oakland, Calif., formerly of Greeley Jerry Allen was born in Greeley to Herman and Thelma Hettinger Smith on May 12, 1946. He passed away on April 7, 2014, at his home in Oakland, Calif., surrounded by family and friends. Jerry grew up in Greeley, graduating from Greeley High School in 1964 and UNC in 1968. He moved to California in 1971 and got his master’s degree. He taught in the Oakland School District until 1979. In 1980, Jerry and Ron Smith started J. Hettinger Interiors. He became owner of J. Hettinger Plaza in Danville, Calif., and a business entrepreneur in San Francisco until his passing. He is survived by his partner, Derrek Peel; his two sisters, Sandy (Frank) Hettinger Bengford and Lorey Hettinger Williams; five nieces and nephews, Cheryl Schaefer, Jamie (Brian) Fowler, Troy (Belinda) Bengford, Todd Bengford, and Jared (Mary) Bengford; seven great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, his father and nephew. There will be a Celebration of Live on Sunday, May 18, 2014. We would love to have family and friends join us at 2 p.m. at 6271 37th St., Greeley. Entrance is on 65th Avenue and dress is casual.
