Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home. Lonnie was born July 27, 1954 in Torrington to Harold Henry Hauf and Martha Betty (Weitzel) Hauf. Lonnie graduated from Goshen Hole High School in 1972 and received a scholarship from the University of Wyoming to play basketball but returned home to farming. He grew up on the family farm. In addition to the farming, the family sang and played music together. Lon became an accomplished musician, playing multiple instruments by ear. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar in a number of local bands over 28 years. He had a number of great friends from those days. A strong-willed man, Lonnie survived being hit by a train while on a tractor as a young man, and then a major heart attack followed by open-heart surgery at the age of forty-two. For the last fifteen years Lonnie cared for his mother. He was a loyal son, friend, protector, and constant companion until her death. He worked at The Three Ds Coffee and Tea Company from 2009 until September of 2013. He cooked, delivered food and drinks, and greeted everyone with a smile everyday. He was loved by all. For the last year of his life Lonnie enjoyed camping and spending time with close friends and his "adopted" family. Lonnie is survived by his daughter and granddaughter, Heather and Arabella Keller of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; his brother and sister-in-law Terry and Laurel Hauf of Mitchell, Nebraska; his "adopted" family of Paul, Stacey, Taylor, and Jordyn DeBock of Lingle, Wyoming; and close special friends Kenny and Lauri, Jesse and Boo, as well as many more to be able to mention but loved even so. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, and will lay in rest beside them. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Lon 'Lonnie' Hauf please visit our Sympathy Store.
