Eckhart, Gladys, Oct. 11, 1921- March 8, 2014 Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 11 Mar 2014 MITCHELL — Gladys Eckhart, 92, formerly of Denver, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Mitchell Care Center in Mitchell. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, at the Crown Hill Cemetery Pavilion in Denver. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the Pavilion. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Gladys’s honor be made in care of the family to be designated at a later time. Online condolences may be left at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements. Gladys was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Denver, to George and Christina (Schwindt) Green. She married Reynold Eckhart on July 12, 1941, in Denver. They lived for a time in Globeville, Colo. then eventually settled in the north Denver area. She worked at Hesteads Department Store in the fabric department until her retirement. Gladys loved to sew, grow her vegetable garden, canning foods and especially loved playing bingo! She enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping with her sisters. Gladys was a member of the First German Congregational Church in Arvada, Colo. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Janice) Eckhart of Thornton, Colo.; daughter, Karen (Bob) Schmer of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Christina (Gary) Edwards, Lori Read, Randy Eckhart, Ryan (Rachel) Schmer, and Adriane (Stephen) Matthews; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Taylor Edwards, Jordan Read, Rylan Eckhart, Adam and Henry Schmer, Ericka and Clara Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents; husband, Ray; three sisters; four brothers and a grandson, Rodney Eckhart preceded Gladys in death.
