    3. What an amazing resource this archive is -- but only if you can read German, and in the old script!! I looked at the 1913 Kalender in the section for German settlers in south Russia. Fascinating details of all officials in each region, steamer timetables, history of the Russian royal family, Russian politics, world events (including Roosevelt's election campaign, the Titanic and the Mexican revolution), pictures, articles, advice, tantalising advertisements ... It gives an enticing picture of the rich life in the colonies. Thank you Horst and Allyn.
