Herrman, LeRoy; Sept 19,1935 - Mar 3, 2014 Wichita (KS) Eagle, Mar 9, 2014 LIEBENTHAL (KS) -- Herrman, LeRoy, age 78, passed away Monday Mar 3, 2014 in Dayton, Ohio. LeRoy was born Sept 29, 1935 in Liebenthal,Kansas, the son of the late Raymond and Lucy (Steckline) Herrman. LeRoy is survived by his wife Donna Herrman; daughter Susan Jozwiak; (Steve); sons Michael J Herrman (Michelle) and Matthew C Herrman (Lorie); sister, LuElla Bieker (Clarence); brothers, Raymond J Herrman (Katie) and Vernon Herrman (Dorothy); and his grandchildren, Hayley, Ellen, Joseph Jozwiak, James and Joshua Herrman, Clair and Grace Herrman. LeRoy served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. LeRoy's love of flying started when he saw military planes fly over the family farm in western Kansas. He was able to turn that childhood passion into a career and was fortunate to fly over 40 years. He had two distnctly different careers. Lee served as an Air Force fighter pilot serving in the Vietnam era logging many combat missions. He flew the F-86, F-100, F-105, F-4 and A-7. After retiring from the Air Force he started a second career in civilian aviation as a demo pilot for Cessna Aircraft flying many different aircraft, including the Cessna Citation X. LeRoy was a member of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilot Association, Super Sabre Society, and St Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek, Ohio. LeRoy's family and friends are sad to say good-bye but take comfort that LeRoy lived a full life and blesses the people that were fortunate enough to know him.
