    3. I just found something in my library. It was tucked in a book of sermons by Ludwig Hofacker that I picked from Mrs. Reimer/Riemer in Kelowna, B.C. about six years ago. Mr. & Mrs. Conrad Kinzel and his beloved wife Katharina nee Bier saw the first light of day in Warenburg on the Volga and entered the Holy Estate of Matrimony on October 11, 1890. Pastor Hoelz wed the couple. In the year 1898 they emigrated from Russia and proceeded directly to Fresno, California where they established their home and resided there ever since. Mr. Kinzel has been in business since 1910 and has a good reputation in the city and among his German compatriots. His store in which everything is found necessary for life has many customers and is progressive. This was accomplished through diligence and honest dealings with his customers so that he and his dear spouse are able to look forward to the eventide of their earthly pilgrimage with prosperity. They have also been active in church and benevolent societies for a long time and seek to support the well-being of their fellow human beings. They have shown much love active in service to their German compatriots. Their reward for this will only be forthcoming in eternity. May the Lord grant them a tolerable and blessed twilight of life. On the other side of this page one notes that the population of Fresno was 1,112 in 1880, 10,819 in 1890, 24,893 in 1910, and today the population is estimated to be 85,000. Horst Gutsche
