published in Wichita (KS) Eagle, 6 Apr 2014: LA CROSSE (KS) -- BAIER, Bernadette J, 80, Lincoln NE, formerly of La Crosse KS, died Wednesday, Apr 2, 2014 at Holmes Lake Manor, Lincoln.  Mrs Baier was born July 3, 1933 in Victoria KS, the daughter of Adam and Catherine BRUNGARDT BELLENDIR.  She was a 1951 graduate of Victoria High School, Victoria.    On Jan 15, 1955, she married Roy W BAIERat Victoria.  They made their home in La Crosse for 52 years before Roy's death Apr 4, 2007.  Mrs Baier was on the St Michael's Paarish Council, Liturgy Council, Social Affairs, and Religious Education Commissions, taught religion classes and was a Cub Scout leader.  After her retirement from the Rush County Clerk's Office, she spent time working in her yard, garden, flower beds, especially enjoying her roses.  Her main hobbies were knitting, crocheting, making quilts, baking cookies, and enjoying her grandchildren.  She moved to Hays KS in 2009, and then to Lincoln in 2013 to be close to her son and family.    Survivors include: three sons, Mark B BAIER and his wife Julia L of Bloomington IL, Robert J BAIER and his wife Jo Ann of Andover KS, Richard J BAIER and his wife Amanda K of Lincoln NE; seven grandchildren, Melissa BAIER, Jeremy BAIER and his wife Jenna, Skyler ASHLEY, Jared BAIER, Julianne LEITZEL and her husband Steven, Matthew BAIER and Corinne BAIER; one sister, Miriam WASINGER of Victoria; and four in-laws, Ed SCHECK of Russell, Mary Agnew NORWOOD of Leavenworth, Vera BELLINDIR of Great Bend, and Katie BELLINDER of Victoria.    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Joseph BAIER; one infant brother, Vitus BELLENDIR; four brothers, Vitus BELLENDIR, Ralph BELLENDIR, Vernon BELLENDIR, and Marvin BELLENDIR; and one sister, Rita SCHECK.    Visitation will be 4 to 8p Sunday, Apr 6, 2014 at the Janousek Funeral Home, La rosse, with the family receiving friends from 4 to 8p.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 7p.  Church visitation will be from 9 to 9:50a Monday Apr 7, 2014 at St Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse.  Funeral service will be 10a Monday, Apr 7, 2014 at St Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse, with Father John Forkuch officiating.  Interment will be 1:30p Monday, Apr 7, 2014 in St Boniface Cemetery, Vincent KS.  Memorials are suggested to St Michael's Catholic Church in La Crosse; St Boniface Cemetery in Vincent; or Tabitha Hospice in Lincoln.  Arrangements were by Janousek Funeral Home, 719 Pine, PO Box 550, La Crosse KS 67548.  785-222-2517.  (photo included)
