Schmidt, Karen Diane, April 17, 1947-Oct. 3, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 11 Oct 2014 Age: 67 Residence: Windsor Karen Diane Schmidt passed away at home in Windsor on Oct. 3, 2014. Karen was born April 17, 1947, to Dave and Dolly (Wassenmiller) Kraus in Windsor. The Kraus family farmed in the Windsor and Severance area. In her youth Karen enjoyed horseback riding and barrel racing. She especially enjoyed riding in the Labor Day and Fourth of July parades for the Windsor Saddle Club. Karen married Steve Schmidt in Windsor. She was a life-long member of Faith United Church of Christ. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind and selfless devotion to her family. She worked at Windsor Health Care Center and then for Kodak Colorado Division for 15 years before retiring in 1993. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake. She enjoyed boating at Fossil Creek and Windsor Shores. She loved watching her children and grandchildren waterski and tube. Karen is survived by her husband, Steve Schmidt; children, Lana (Tom) St. John of Highlands Ranch, Susan (Dave) Ray of Windsor, Chad (Michelle) Schmidt of Milliken; grandchildren, Michael Schmidt and Kaytlynn Coffey, Alyssa and Tommy St. John, Paige Faith and Morgan Flanigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Dolly (Wassenmiller) Kraus; brother, Larry Kraus; and nephew, Monte Kraus. At the familys request there will be a private family service.
