Helser, 81, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Federated Church in Mitchell with Rev. Charles Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at the Mitchell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell. Memorials have been established to the Federated Church in Mitchell and the Alzheimer's Unit at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. Her obituary may be viewed at www.jones-mortuary.com, where condolences may be left. Donna was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Hawk Springs, Wyo. to George and Jesta (Andrews) Ford. She graduated from Sunflower High School in 1946. Donna attended Scottsbluff Junior College, Chadron State College and taught at the Russell School of rural Mitchell. She was united in marriage to Walter E. Helser at the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff in 1948. They lived and farmed in the Sunflower Community for 62 years. She was an associate at the Walmart store for 18 years. Donna was a member of the Federated Church, the 3J Club, the CC Circle at the Federated Church and the Mitchell Rebecca Lodge. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and collecting angels. She especially enjoyed making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband Walter; daughters, Linda (Gary) Lytle of Cerritos, Calif., Marsha (Douglas) Rexus of Lincoln, Cheryl (Paul) Helser-Garcia of Seattle, Wash.; sons, Steve (Jennifer Hiegel) Helser of Tecumseh, Neb., and Kevin Helser of Mitchell; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane Graves of Bishop, Calif., Phyllis Weir of Santa Rose, Calif.; and brother, Wayne Ford of Morrill. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother. She will be sadly missed by many.
