Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements. Bob was born at home, three miles north of Minatare Jan. 19, 1934. He was the 12th of 13 children of Conrad and Katherine (Brehm) Lofing. He attended Lake Minatare and Fairview 50 grade schools and graduated from Minatare High School, Class of 1953. Bob married Edna May Simon, Oct. 28, 1956, at the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff. To this union four children were born; Mike, Michele, Doug and Deneen. Bob was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1956, serving five months at Fort Hood, Texas, then in Germany until September 1958. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the Lofing family farm east of Scottsbluff. He was a very meticulous and successful farmer – the rows had to be straight, and the weeds didn't have a chance. He took pride in being his own mechanic and being a "jack of all trades." He fed cattle for years and was also a Top 10 Beet Producer. Family and farming took priority over everything. Bob never missed a family gathering or family reunion. Even after his retirement from farming, his love of farming still existed in his perfect gardens and flowerbeds. He enjoyed all sports, was a devoted "Husker fan" and enjoyed going to his kids' and grandkids' activities. He loved going fishing with long time friend, Kenny Rein; talking sports with old friend, Max Tyrrell; working side-by-side with his brother, Harvey; and sharing numerous laughs with his brother-in-law, Don Ramig. Bob was a devoted family man, very proud of his parents, siblings, and especially his children, their spouses and the grandkids. Although he was a very quiet person, his mischievous sense of humor entertained all who loved him. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Edna, of 54 years; children, Mike (Lisa) Lofing, Michele Lofing, Doug (Debbie) Lofing, Deneen (Paul) Colburn, all of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Brett Lofing (fiancé Kate Boyce) of Lincoln, Morgan (Robert) Newnham of Denver, Joshua Heilbrun of Ft.
