    3. Leffler, Victor, April 13, 1913- May 11, 2011 The Coloradian Ft Collins, CO 14 May 2011 Victor Leffler of Eaton, CO passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center at the age of 98. Victor was born west of Eaton on April 13, 1913 to Phillip Jacob and Elizabeth (Zulauf) Leffler. He was the youngest of seven siblings born in their Germans from Russia immigrant family. He spent several childhood years in Windsor, Colo. and then attended Lucas school located southwest of Eaton. He rode his horse to school or walked as did many of his classmates. Victor was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Windsor, confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Eaton, and was a long-standing member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eaton. On January 12, 1937, Victor married Elizabeth Lind in Windsor. Elizabeth died on February 23, 2010, culminating a 73 year married union. They lived their entire lives in the Eaton/Windsor area, residing on the farm west of Eaton since 1944. This was the farm that as a young boy he said he wanted to own, as he rode by the farm with his father's hired hand on a horse-drawn beet wagon. Victor realized this goal, and along with his sons expanded the farming and cattle feeding operation. He was a charter member of the Duck Creek Grazing Association, organized in 1965. Victor was recognized as a Top 10 sugar beet producer for 12 years. He was a dedicated steward of his land and did whatever it took to successfully complete his work. He constantly explored ways to improve his farming operation and looked for ways to do any task in a more efficient or easier manner. He didn't have much patience with anything less than an honest effort, but gave everyone support and advice when needed, and the opportunity to succeed on their own. Survivors include five sons; Charles (Bernadene) Leffler, Russell (Gwen) Leffler of Eaton, Richard (Lois) Leffler of Loveland, Colo., Phillip (Joan Hegland) Leffler of Greeley, Larry Leffler of Stockton, Calif.; three daughters, Dorothy (David) Bates of Kersey,Colo., Linda (Larry) Broyles of Goodyear, Ariz., Karen (Richard) Forbes of Plano, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Jodie Leffler of Eaton. He had 29 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
