Sheila, Sorry to hear about that. Hope all is soon resolved with your account. This is certainly something for us all to watch out for. To all: in addition to a good password, I recommend that if you haven't done so already, you set up your Facebook account with a secure browser and login alerts. This is NOT the default setting. You will receive an alert if someone logs into your account from a computer not registered to your account. Go to: -Account tab --> Account Settings -Account Security -Check both: 1. Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) whenever possible 2. When a new computer or mobile device logs into this account: Send me an email If you have Facebook bookmarked in your browser, you will need to remark it with the new site address. (This uses https://... instead of http://...) Also, if you log in from two places (home and work, from a smartphone, etc.), these will show up as alerts the first time you log in after the new set-up. -Catherine On Wed, Mar 2, 2011 at 11:21 AM, Sheila Derevage <[email protected]> wrote: > > I have some of you as friends on my Facebook. So I wanted to notify you that my facebook was hacked this morning. The hacker contacted some of my friends using Chat on facebook and told them I was in London and was robbed and need money. For right now my facebook account has been disabled. I just wanted to insure everyone that this was not true and I am sure this was a hacker trying to get money. I am a computer security analyst and my advice is make your passwords something you can remember but not easy to figure out. Just be careful if you have a feeling about someone chating with you start questioning that person as to there identity. Be careful not to put personal information out on facebook hackers are out there looking for this info. > > Sheila Kreutzer Derevage > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
