I looked in Merton's German-Russian Handbook and he lists Kana , Volga republic (Weisenseite) Pallasovka Southeast of Seelmann, Evangelical, Founded 1860. I don't know how that relates to an 1857 census. I looked in our Ellis County database and saw one Theodore Kindsvater married to a Monica Urban in 1941 and another Ed Kindsfather married to a Frances Dinges in the same county about 1960. Propinquity? It is neighboring state to Oklahoma, for what that's worth. Good luck. Mertens also lists daughter colonies of Kano, Caneau, Kaneau, Kanskoye.
