Frickle, Gloria I, Sept. 17, 1926- Jan. 6, 2011 Billings Gazette Billings, MT 9 Jan 2011 Gloria I. Frickle passed away peacefully, surrounded by love from family, on Jan. 6, 2011, at the age of 84. Gloria was born to Peter and Ernestine Bell Thelen in Milwaukee, Wis., on Sept. 17, 1926. Her primary education began in Wisconsin and continued in Wyoming and Montana. She attended Billings Senior High School and graduated from Cutbank High School. Gloria's life calling became nursing. She graduated from nursing school in 1947 and worked in surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital for 27 years until her career was cut short at the age of 47 when she suffered a stroke. In her heart, she remained a nurse and took great pride in passing that trait to daughter Gloria, and granddaughter Sara. She met her future husband and love of her life while attending nursing school and married Wally Frickle on Oct. 11, 1947, in Billings. They were married for 42 years until Wally's death in 1989. All memories of Gloria will begin and end with a smile as her greatest attribute was her sense of humor. If laughter could have saved her on earth, she would have lived forever. Look out heaven, here she comes. Gloria was the middle child in a family of seven and her life revolved around siblings, spouses, and extended family. She was a devoted wife, mother of five, loving grandmother of 16, great grandmother of 15, and great, great grandmother of one.
