Grauberger, Emma Lee (Stargrant), Jan. 10, 1933Nov. 24, 2014 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 28 Nov 2014 Age: 81 Residence: Red Feather Lakes, Colo. (formerly of Greeley) Emma Lee (Stargrant) Grauberger, 81, of Red Feather Lakes, Colo., passed away on Nov. 24, 2014, at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Collins, Colo. Emma was born in a farm house east of Pierce, Colo. on Jan. 10, 1933, to Frederick Napolean and Ruby Eva (Caldwell) Stargrant. She attended elementary schools in Pierce and Nunn, Colo., then attended Meeker Junior High and Greeley High in Greeley, Colo. She married Arthur Junior Tiny Grauberger on April 14, 1951. During her high school and early married years she waitressed at the Cozy Café in Greeley, and later became a stay-at-home mom to raise their three children, Lowell, Sheri and Tammy. She also supported her husband with Grauberger Brothers Plastering and Drywall, a Greeley business he owned and operated. After Art developed physical problems from his years in this business, they purchased a small store in Red Feather Lakes, Colo. in 1969 called the Chalet Gift Shop. They built this business together from a small gift shop to a gift shop, grocery store and gas station serving local residents and numerous tourists to the area. In 1971 they also purchased additional property called the Alpine Lodge. After selling the Chalet, they expanded the Alpine Lodge to include cabin rentals and trailer/RV parking. After Art passed away in 1984, Emma continued working this business, with the help of countless friends and close family until the very end. She came to love the mountains and never wanted to leave, even when her illness got the better of her. As her many friends and business acquaintances know, she was a stubborn Swede who never gave up! She was set in her ways, and believed that the old ways were better than the new, especially when it came to using computers and many modern electronic conveniences. She was proud of having taught all of her grandchildren how to count back change in her gift shop at the Alpine, and they all appreciate it to this day. She was a wise woman that taught her children and grandchildren right from wrong with a loving heart, and always made sure everyone knew how to play Yahtzee so she could whip their butts! She also enjoyed her many trips to Central City/Blackhawk, even though she generally came home much poorer than when she got there. She leaves behind friends too numerous to count, and her children and their families who are all the wiser for having her as our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mere words will never be able to describe the woman that she was and the legacy she left. Emma will be forever loved and missed by her sister, Betty Prather; son, Lowell of Elbert, Colo.; daughters, Sheri (Michael) Williams of Vale, Ore, and Tammy (Paul) Lutkin of Severance, Colo.; grandchildren, Brenna (Orville) Davis, Liesel (Dustin) Flansburg, Denali Williams, Ian (Carissa) Williams, Katalyn Lutkin, and Leandra Lutkin; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Luke, Olivia, Gabrial and Jevon Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers and a sister. Erik Amburger was born in St. Petersburg on August 4, 1907 and died in Heuchelheim near Giessen in Germany on November 6, 2001. He was a German historian focusing on Eastern Europe. His father was the physician Nikolai Amburgerand his wife was Gerda nee Schottlaender. He attended the St. Catherine Lutheran Parochial School in St. Petersburg from 1914 until 1918. He fled with his mother and siblings in 1918 but his father had to remain and died as a result of an epidemic in 1920. Amburger attended the Cathedral and Nobility School in Reval, Estonia from 1918 until 1920 and then the Humanistic High School / Junior College in Heidelberg, Germany. In 1926 he began to study history in Heidelberg and then in Berlin as of 1927 where he obtained his doctorate in 1933 on the subject of: "Russia and Sweden 1762 - 1772." He could not enter public service because he had Jewish ancestry. He was a private assistant for Karl Staehlin for his publication of "Geschichte Russlands / The History of Russia." He was in the German army, a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union (1939 - 1945). He then resided in Berlin. From 1946 to 1948 he was employed by the Institute of Slavic Studies of the German Academy of Sciences, from 1948 to 1950 the head of the publication office of Akademie-Jubilaeum and from 1950 to 1953 a coworker in the publications issued on Leibniz. He was fired from this position because he refused to move to East Berlin. From 1953 to 1957 he was a scholarship holder for the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft /German Research Society - I think!). In 1957 he got a position at the University of Giessen, initially in the commission for research into agriculture and economic development in East Europe, then since 1960 in the commission for continental agricultural and economic research and since 1968 he was a senior academic consultant. He became a professor at the University of Marburg in 1962 and in 1968 he became an honorary professor in the subject of historical science. He retired in 1972. He was married to the classic archaeologist Eleni Amburger HE RESEARCHED MANY SPECIFIC FOREIGN INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN RUSSIA AND IN THE BALTICS including a few Black Sea Germans at the very least. You will have to search the database that you can access (he had almost 100,000 family tree items in his cardex) by GOING TO Erik Amburger - Wikipedia and down to the section on Weblinks and click on Archiv Erik Amburger zu Auslaendern im vorrevolutionaeren Russland (Personenkartei). You can also click on Digitalisierte Literatur zu Auslaendern im Russischen Reich. Some of the books which he had in his library have been digitalized by the Institut fuer Ost und Suedosteuropaforschung (IN REGENSBURG, GERMANY). His library, listed at 800 items is located there and this library, by the way, has about 300,000 items. He is, of course, also known for his book listing the pastors (with a short biography on each) in the Russian Empire from the end of the 16th century up to 1937 published in 1998 (when he was 91 years of age - so don't give up your research too early!) Nr. 2 November 2014 "O give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever." We would like to begin our new report concerning Marx with these words. Yes, there is much reason to give thanks! During the past year decisive things have taken place on the Volga. And so we will report the following: As was reported in the last issue of the news, the new partnership agreement was signed between the Evangelical Lutheran Church - European Russia and the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg and Upper Lusatia in worship services held jointly with the deaneries of Saratov and the Lower Volga. Thus there is now a signed mutual agreement acting as a foundation for cooperation that has been taking place for the last 20 years. "The Evangelical Lutheran Church - European Russia (ELC-ER)" was the church of the German-speaking minority before World War II. Today it is a part of Russian society and numbers 170 congregations and fellowships. It is still the church of a small remnant. In light of these circumstances this official partnership will now be filled with life that will include: mutual exchanges of ideas, mutual praise of the Lord, regular prayers for one another, visits to each other, the organization of seminars for further education, and the commissioning of volunteers. The Berlin Mission Society, represented in this delegation by Dean von Kirbach, Mission Director Roland Herpich, Chairman of the Committee for the Volga Lars Haake and Consultant Wolfgang Iskraut who is reponsible for East Europe will be working to enact this partnership in its new form as an official agreement. (citation: from the Mission Paper Nr. 2 August 2014 of the Berlin Mission Society). On the basis of the agreement signed above a new agreement was signed concerning the partnership with Marx on the Volga. This took place in the working group/special committee that met in Potsdam. In order to discuss this agreement this year and to have it confirmed, the Evangelical Church of The Star invited Pastor Volodya Rodikov and Natalia and Svetlana, two delegates from the church council to come to Potsdam for a partnership visit. After extensive travel preparations, including difficult procedures for the application of visas, the group arrived in Potsdam on September 26, 2014. The first thing that was done was that the chairman of the working committee/special committee for Marx on the Volga, W. Gubatz and his wife drove the guests to the partner congregation "De Hoeksteen / The Cornerstone" in Schoonhoven in The Netherlands. The Church of The Star and the congregation in Schoohoven have been working together for Marx for over 20 years. This has led to lasting friendships between congregations and generous support for the brothers and sisters in Marx. During face to face meetings the problems that the congregation in Marx are dealing with were discussed and we looked for solutions for which we had input from both sides. After the festive worship service, the Dutch prepared a wonderful program for the guests. Their Russian friends were enraptured by the Dutch windmills, the open landscape with its canals and the imposing Maeslant gated closure (perhaps for sea water) and tasty Gouda cheese. Back in Potsdam on October 1st, the working committee/special committee for Marx had arranged for an extensive tour of Berlin and Potsdam which included the Parliament Building in Berlin with its domed rise, the Evangelical Cathedral of Berlin and a trip with a steamship on the Spree River. Seven church members from Potsdam together with the three Russian guests spent the "Day of German Reunfication" in Wittenberg walking in Martin Luther's footsteps. In Potsdam they were impressed by the walk through Sanssouci Park and a bus tour of the historic city centre. The day ended with a choir concert in the Schinkel Church in Caputh. On October 4th, the new agreement was signed in the presence of Lars Haake, the chairman of the Volga committee of the Berlin Mission Society, as well as Vicar U. Bischoff, counselor for East Europe for the Berlin Mission Society, F. Muhme, the chairman of the church council of the Evangelical Church of The Star, Andreas Markert, the pastor of the Evangelical Church of The Star, and the members of the working committee for Marx on the Volga. In the agreement the goal of partnership is described in this way: "Furthering the work the congregation in Marx, and specifically the pastoral and diaconal congregational work by means of advice and financial support for the expansion of congregational groups, for example the church council, a choir, groups for children, youth and seniors." Natalia reported in the report after she had returned home: "While in Germany and in The Netherlands the days passed by very rapidly. Everything was organized in an excellent manner. We found out that the members of the congregations are very deeply concerned about our congregation. We reported that to our church members. Svetlana gave a photographic presentation of our trip after a worship service. Many questions were asked and we were able to answer all of them. Our congregation sends its greetings and wishes you God's blessing." On October 12th we celebrated Harvest Thanksgiving in Marx. "The church and the altar were decorated with fruits of the harvest that are autumn's gifts. On that day we gave thanks to the Lord for the harvest from our gardens and fields. Pastor Rodikov held a festive family worship service." I am especially glad to to report that Bible studies have been re-initiated. Sinaida Sukotscheva told us that, with the help of God, she would be the study leader. Without even considering the cold in the church building, church members are attending the Bible studies eagerly and gladly. We put on two electric space heaters in the room so that it will be a bit warmer in the room where we meet. Breaking News: 1. A miracle has taken place. The restoration work on the church building in Marx is going full blast since August 14th. Firstly, the church tower will be rebuilt using the old architectural records and the facade will be restored. "The building of the church tower is progressing. It is going ahead in all kinds of weather. The construction crew consists of two shifts of workers. Our congregation is still praying for the construction of the church tower." (note Natalia's report in November, 2014)2. The description on the website is recommended viewing and is being updated on a regular basis by Svetlana. A lot of photos of the church tower have been posted as well as the video of our trip to Marx in September of 2013. Here is the site: http://lutherkirche-marks.ru Special Prayer Requests: - God's blessing for the practical application of the the new agreement- God's blessing for Pastor Rodikov and his co-workers- God's blessing and aid for the changes in the application of new responsibilities in the church council- blessed work for Sinaida in the new Bible study group- active participation in the Sunday school and God's blessing for it as well Trinity Evangelical Church in Marx is a partner congregation to The Evangelical Church of The Star in Potsdam Production of the Newsletter is under the direction of Helga Gubatz; Tel.: 030 805 11 96; Email: h.gubatz@t-online.deContact Address: Ev.
