Billings Gazette Billings, MT 22 Dec 2006 GREAT FALLS - Meta Marie (Scheuneman) Meinhardt, 81, of Great Falls, quietly slipped away to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, in the evening, at Peace Hospice, after four months of failing health. At her request, no services are planned. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Meta is survived by her sister, Lillie (and Buck) Reamy; a son, Jerry; daughters Donna (and Jim) Cheff and Vonnie Erickson; grandchildren Sophia, Owen, Tyler, Garrett, Cody (and Jessica) and Matt (and Pam); and great-grandchildren Steph and Gabby. Meta was born Sept. 2, 1925, at home to German immigrants, Ernest and Anna Scheuneman in the Bridger-Belfry area. On the family sugar beet farm two miles north of Bridger, Meta and her siblings Paul, Henry, Lillie and Freddie learned to value hard work, determination and thriftiness. Meta married Arnold Meinhardt, another first-generation American, in Bridger on Nov. 16, 1946. Children Steven, Jerry, Donna and Vonnie were born as Arnold and Meta traveled about Montana, working in various small communities in Montana and in Billings, Sidney and Miles City. Arnold worked for Mountain Bell Telephone. When they arrived in 1976, Mom was delighted with her final move to Great Falls. She lost Arnold in 1983. Mom developed lifelong companionships with friends at the Rainbow Garden Club, Sewing Club, the Nautilus Health Spa and in her residence at the Holiday Apartment. Mom enjoyed her friendship with dinner companion Phil Anderson. She enjoyed walking in the mall. Mom also loved fishing with her partner, Robert Markel. When she became ill, she met her illness with few complaints and much courage. When spring winds blow the ice off a good fishing hole, we will think of you. When little girls dance about in their velvet Christmas dresses, we will think of you. When autumn turns the apples ripe and ready for harvest, we will think of you. Rest in Peace, Mom.
Hello This is most amazing. I know Koehlers or Kohlers that came from the Volga to the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina and now are in Patagoniam like me. These are great news. In 1998, cousins Paul Koehler and Ron Loeb visited Germany to try to trace some of the family tree with information from the Reitz, Loeb (Lob) and Koehler (Kohler) Pleve Charts from the Volga Russia area. There was not much information gathered about the Loeb or the Koehler branches from the Pleve Charts. However, another three generations, on the Reitz branch, was found along with where they had lived, where they went to church, and what their daily lives were like as ?Field Watchers? (shepards). We did find they moved every couple of years before they left for the Volga area in Russia. In this research I was able to fit into the Reitz tree the name of Reiter from Monstadt in Hintertauns, in the Hessen area. The Reiter?s had lived there for generations. Rudi Reider (6-17-1923), father of Thomas Reiter, spent 13 years of his youth in Monstadt. He became a World War II pilot for the German Air Force. Thomas Reiter followed in his father?s foot steps, in the love of flying. He has become an Astronaut with the European Space Agency. It is an accomplishment to have lived for over a year in space, without setting his foot on ?Mother Earth?! Thomas Reiter spent six months in the Russian Space Ship MIUR and another six months in the International Space Lab. He will be coming back to earth on December 22, 2006 aboard the Space Ship Discovery. A picture and a biographical data about Thomas Reiter can be seen at web site: www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/reiter-t.html Paul Koehler December 15, 2006 Merry Christmas to all and God Speed to Thomas Reiter and the entire crew of Discovery. ------------------------------ To contact the GER-VOLGA list administrator, send an email to GER-VOLGA-admin@rootsweb.com. Fort Morgan Times Fort Morgan, Colorado 12-21-2006 Nancy Lee (Loose) Neville, 68, a former Fort Morgan resident, died Saturday at Hospice of Metro Denver in Aurora. Mrs. Neville was born May 9, 1938, to Alexander “Alex” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Ostwald) Loose in Fort Morgan. After graduation from Fort Morgan High School in 1956, she married Donald Neville June 3, 1956. She was employed by Canfield Drilling Co. in Fort Morgan for 10 years before the family moved to Wray in 1966 when her husband was transferred by Safeway. The family relocated again in 1972, when her husband was transferred to Sidney, Neb. She became an active member of the Church of Christ, teaching Sunday school in 1975. Mrs. Neville enjoyed cooking and was renowned for her culinary skills. She was also a member of the Burlington Women’s Club. Continued deterioration of her health led to a fall in late 2004 that forced her to spend all of 2005 in long-term care facilities where her condition worsened, resulting in hospitalization from the start of 2006 until she was transferred to a hospice last week. She is survived by her husband, Don, and son, Brent, both of Burlington; a sister, Barbara Fries of Fort Collins, and twin sisters, Karen Spohr and Kay Amman, also of Fort Morgan. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Burlington with Greg Smith officiating, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, also in Burlington.
