Pauline was born on October 5, 1920, in Minatare to George and Marie (Peil) Drumheller. She married Alexander Kaufman on April 14, 1939. in Scottsbluff. She farmed with her sons after the death of her husband Alex in July of 1960. She later worked at Vi's Diner in Scottsbluff. Pauline was a member of Hope Ladies Club, Dorcas Society - St. James Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, cooking for her family and friends and quilt-making. Survivors include her daughter Colleen Herman of Youngtown, Ariz.; son Larry (Sharon) Kaufman of Scottsbluff; daughter Geraldine "Jeri" (Harvey) Bartel of Scottsbluff; daughter Sharon (Pete) Bennis of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; sons Rick (Jacque) Kaufman of Scottsbluff and Rodney Kaufman of Weiser, Idaho; 11 grandchildren' and 11 great-grandchildren; brother Edd (Elizabeth) Drumheller of Thornton, Colo.; sisters Esther Schmall of Bayard, Caroline (Dale) Smock of Scottsbluff, Lenora Cross of Bayard, Marleen (Bill) Blanding of Carpentersville, Ill., Judy Drumheller and Trudy Drumheller both of Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alex, four brothers, two sisters and three grandsons.
Scottsbluff Star Hearld Scottsbluff, NE 4 Jan 2007 Helen (Huber) Blum, 75, affectionately called Blumie by her immediate family, was called to heaven Sunday, December 31, 2006, at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral will be held Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Doug Rupp officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and at the funeral. Helen was born May 19, 1931 at Bridgeport to Jacob and Katherine (Pfenning) Huber. She was the ninth of nine children. She attended rural C14 country school through the sixth grade at which time her parents moved to Bayard. She graduated from Bayard High School in 1948. She married Tom Blum on April 25, 1952, at the Zion Evangelical Church (Faith United Church of Christ) in Bayard, which was the church she was baptized and confirmed in. Tom and Helen farmed in the Morrill area for 22 years until Tom's sudden death in 1978 at the age of 47. She continued to live in Morrill until 2002 when she moved to Scottsbluff. In the spring of 2006 she moved to the Heritage Health Care Center. After a lengthy hospitalization she returned to Heritage Estates in December of 2006. She was an active member of the church and it's Mary Martha Circle until her health prevented her from doing so. She was a volunteer at Regional West Medical Center for many years and a member of the Lazy Daisy Garden Club. She is survived by her sons Mike Blum of Genoa and Brad Blum of Wauneta; daughter Nancy (Torry) Butcher of Mitchell; grandson Sam Blum of Wauneta and granddaughter Rachael Blum of Arkansas; brother Henry (Esther) Huber of Scottsbluff; and sister Irene (Sam) Kraus of Morrill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, sisters Lydia Harimon, Mary Wickman, and Catherine Michal, and brothers Bill, Jake, and John Huber.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Morrill with the Reverend Paul Cain officiating. At her request, cremation was done at Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory in Scottsbluff. Her family moved to Morrill in 1941 where she attended school, graduating from Morrill High School in 1958. That same year, Carolyn was crowned Miss Scottsbluff and was also 2nd runner-up in the Miss Nebraska Pageant. She married Melvin Groskopf in 1959 and was blessed with four children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was very active in her church, a past member of the Morrill Library Board, and worked in the family business. Carolyn's kitchen was a gathering place for friends and family. It was a warm place where everyone was welcome, be it for a cup of coffee and dessert or a gourmet meal. Carolyn was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's) in June of 2003 and fought a courageous battle against this disease. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her but the family takes comfort with the thought of her being in a better place. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Melvin Groskopf; daughters, Michelle (Larry) Rice of Scottsbluff and Nicole (Brett) Jackson of Wilton, Iowa; sons, Matt Groskopf of Morrill and Mike Groskopf of Gering; dear friend and daughter-in-law, Dora Olivares of Gering; grandchildren, Christian Groskopf, Lance Rice, Brady and Nathan Jackson; step-granddaughter, Janelle Bahr; sisters, Kristen (Leo) Moore of Cheyenne, Wyo., Janelle (Mark) Williams of Ft. Fort Morgan Times Fort Morgan, Colorado 01-03-2007 Nancy Lee (Loose) Neville, 68, a former Fort Morgan resident, died Saturday at Hospice of Metro Denver in Aurora. Mrs. Neville was born May 9, 1938, to Alexander "Alex" and Elizabeth "Betty" (Ostwald) Loose in Fort Morgan. After graduation from Fort Morgan High School in 1956, she married Donald Neville June 3, 1956. She was employed by Canfield Drilling Co. in Fort Morgan for 10 years before the family moved to Wray in 1966 when her husband was transferred by Safeway. The family relocated again in 1972 when her husband was transferred to Sidney, Neb. She became an active member of the Church of Christ, teaching Sunday school in 1975. The family made its final move in 1982 to Burlington where she was an active member of the local congregation until her diminishing health prevented her participation. Mrs. Neville enjoyed cooking and was renowned for her culinary skills. She was also a member of the Burlington Women's Club. Continued deterioration of her health led to a fall in late 2004 that forced her to spend all of 2005 in long-term care facilities where her condition worsened, resulting in hospitalization from the start of 2006 until she was transferred to a hospice last week. She is survived by her husband, Don, and son, Brent, both of Burlington; a sister, Barbara Fries of Fort Collins, and twin sisters, Karen Spohr and Kay Lutes, both of Fort Morgan. Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Burlington with Greg Smith officiating, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, also in Burlington. WEBER- Ralph passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 22, 2006. He was predeceased by his wife, Nell (Jones) Weber in October 1990, parents Valentine and Katarina, brothers Tony and Nick, and sister Lydia. Ralph is survived by his sisters Eugenie (Calgary), Emma (Regina), and Rose (Medicine Hat). Ralph will be missed by his sons Jim (Sharon) and Dave (Cheryl); grandchildren, Jimmy (Shelly) & Karen; Tasha (Milan), Cara and Lee (Jill); and great grandchildren, Jordan & Austin; Samantha; Kaitlin, Michaela and Tucker. Ralph was born on August 12, 1908, in Odessa Russia. He was brought by his parents to settle in Canada and was one of the first homesteaders in Fox Valley. Ralph dedicated his life to hard work, farming and his family, he will be missed by his family, and missed on the farm. The family will have a private family celebration of Ralph's life. Kleveno Oellerich Nimmer Nelson Oshkosh Northwestern - Elmond W. Kromm Elmond W. Kromm, 85 of Oshkosh, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Omro Care Center after a short illness. He was born to Adam and Elizabeth Kleveno Kromm on March 29, 1921 at Fisk, WI. He married Betty Nelson on July 3, 1943 at Christ Lutheran Church and has been a member since then. Elmond attended grade school in Fisk and High School in Oshkosh. He was a farmer and also had worked for Griese and Ross Construction. Elmond was an avid bowler for 65 years. He enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his wife, Betty, Oshkosh; three children, son James (Sue) Kromm, Appleton; Dennis (Darla) Kromm, Burlington, WI.; and daughter, Diane (fiance Rick Vosburgh) Kromm, Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Robin (Nuri) Nimmer, Moscow, ID; Julie Kromm, Appleton; Erin Cain, Fayetteville, AR; and Matthew Kromm (special friend Tara), Burlington, WI; three great grandchildren, Noah and Isaac Nimmer, Moscow, ID; and Logan Cain, Fayetteville, AR; nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law, Germaine Nelson, Oshkosh. Oshkosh Northwestern - Helen L. Behnke Helen L. Behnke, age 91, of Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Park View Health Center-Pleasant Acres. On September 14, 1915 she was born in Hoffa Park, WI, the daughter of Walter and Bernice (Zemlewcz) Sawicki. Helen worked at Oshkosh Trunk and Luggage, Paine Lumber and in the kitchen of Park View Health Center. On April 14, 1934 she was married to William Behnke in Oshkosh. He passed away on July 23, 1972. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed doing needlework, reading and flower gardening. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter: Nancy (Thomas) Wertz, of Colorado City, CO; her son: Paul (Susan) Behnke of Oshkosh; her grandchildren: Marguerite (Gary) Yowell of Hugo, CO, Thomas Wertz II of Pierce, CO, Adrienne (Joseph) Bidula of Scottsdale, AZ, Billi Jo Behnke and P. On June 15, A.D. 1916, the Lord God granted to Oral and Mabel (nee Day) Roots the gift of their first daughter, whom they named Esther. She became the second of six children, and was born in Hardtner, Kansas. Her second birth came on January 1, 1925 when she was baptized into Christ and her was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on February 23, 1947. As an eldest daughter, Esther received important duties when she was nineteen years old, due to the death at that time of her mother. She moved to Pratt, Kansas and eventually to Chicago for a period of time then returned to Kansas in the late 1930's. On December 9, 1939 she married Alexander Karl Gunther in Wellington, Kansas. God bestowed upon her three children: Alexander Karl Gunther JR., Raynona Lee (Bohrer), and Maurice Clark. During her life Esther greatly enjoyed music, especially opera, and for many years had a beautiful singing voice. She also proved skillful in sketching and calligraphy. Her life was greatly changed when she was stricken with blindness, and for twenty-one years she served on the Advisory Board of the Wichita Radio Reading Service. For many years she also made great use of this program. She exemplified for those who knew her many Christian virtues, not the least of which were the patient suffering of afflictions, and a tender concern for others, especially her children and grandchildren. Early in 2006 she was moved from her home in south Wichita into a nursing home in Haysville Kansas, And she passed away on December 24, 2006
Billings Gazette Billings, MT 31 Dec 2006 ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Mona Lynn Kurtz, 53 of Anchorage, formerly of Columbus, Mont., passed away on Dec. 27, 2006. Lynn was born on Sept. 29, 1953, to Wayne and Elizabeth Hepler. She grew up in West Newton, Pa., graduating from high school there. Lynn went on to Edmond Burl College and obtained her bachelor's degree in music education. She taught music for more than 15 years in Flaxville, Mont., and also Gardiner, Mont. On Aug. 2, 1980, Lynn married Blaine Kurtz. Together they had two children, Sharley and Josh. Lynn and Blaine moved to Columbus in 1996. She went to work at the Stillwater Hospital as an activities director. She loved working with the residents and sharing her love for music with them. In 2005, they moved to Alaska where she worked as a receptionist at VCA Animal Hospital. Alaska was a great place for fishing, which she enjoyed. She and Blaine took trips salmon fishing and whale watching. Lynn is survived by her husband, Blaine of Anchorage; children, Sharley of Grand Forks, N.D., and Josh (Becky) of Dillon, Mont.; sisters, Janet (Joe) Chiarodo and Naomi Hepler; brother, Kenneth (Judith) Hepler; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at St. James Lutheran Church in Columbus. Inurnment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials in Lynn's name may be given to the Columbus School Music Program. Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements
Billings Gazette Billings, MT 31 Dec 2006 Rosalia Wilhelmina Krum Jan. 29, 1907 - Dec. 29, 2006 (One month short of her 100th birthday.) The eldest of six children, Rose was born on the homestead at what was then Krem, N.D., near Zap and Beulah. Her parents, Matilda (Heine) and John Kunz were Germans-from-Russia and had immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1890s. When she was a teen, the family came to Fromberg by train through the recruitment efforts of the sugar beet industry. Rose married Henry Krum Jan. 1, 1927. They farmed near Bridger with his parents and brother and sister-in-law, all living under the same roof for several years, both having large families. Eventually her family bought a farm southeast of Belfry in the early 1940s. Life without many conveniences kept Rose busy fulfilling the needs of her family, but she never complained about the back-breaking work. Henry died in 1962 when she was only 55 years old. She lived and worked in Billings for a few years before returning to Belfry where she was active in church and senior citizens and enjoyed visiting her children and crocheting. In 1991, she moved to Prairie Tower in Billings. As her health declined, she was transferred to St. John's Lutheran Home in 1998 and was able to tend to her own needs for several more years well into her 90s. Her family greatly appreciates the dedicated care she was given those eight years. Preceding her in death were all five of her siblings: Hilda Holthues, Arthur Kunz, Emma Sawyer, Olga Christman and Herbert Kunz. Rose's youngest son, Jacob, died of a heart attack in 1998. Henry Jr., the second oldest, died of cancer in 2005. She is survived by children and spouses, Herman and Hope Krum of St. George, Utah, and their six children; Martin and Cynthia Krum of Belfry and his three children; Samuel and Maxine Krum of Belfry and his two sons; Selma and Harold Matson of Billings and their two sons; Jacob's three children of Seattle; and daughter-in-law, Louise Krum of Pasco, Wash., and her three children. In addition to the 19 grandchildren, there are over 50 great-grandchildren and as many great-great-grandchildren, plus nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belfry with burial at the Bridger Cemetery following. The Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge of arrangements, but viewing will be at the funeral only. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran CHURCH of Belfry. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 31 Dec 2006 Emanuel Fox, 88 years, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the Billings Clinic due to complications of a stroke. He was surrounded by family during his illness and especially at the time of his passing, denoting his strong family values. He was born in Finch, Mont., on Oct. 11, 1918, the youngest child of Conrad and Eva Fox. Emanuel was raised on the family farming operation located on South Billings Blvd., at the site of the current City of Billings municipal facility. Emanuel married the love of his life, Clara Fickle of Laurel on Dec. 3, 1939. They established their homes in Billings during their 67 year marriage. He was employed by the Midland Empire Packing Company for 40 years, most of them as an operational supervisor. Emanuel retired from the meat packing plant in 1980. He never stopped working at perfecting his fishing, camping, grilling, neighborhood liaison skills and personal relationships. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his loyal neighbors and his countless friends which fully enriched his golden years. Emanuel was the sole surviving member of the original Fox family. His son, Donald passed away in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara; daughter, Sheryl (Bill) Duke and his grandchildren, Michele (Alan) Hall, J.R. (Michele) Fox, Brian (Kara) Duke and Kristin Duke all residing in Billings along with his six great-grandchildren, Levi, Bailey, Jase, Jack, Jake, and Morgan. Emanuel was a life-long member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church where he was baptized, confirmed, married and now is celebrating his final rites there. He was devoted to his Church, serving on numerous boards and many committees over the years. Visitation will begin Tuesday afternoon at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th St., with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Smith Downtown Chapel is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Donald Fox Memorial Fund at MSU-B or the Pilgrim Church.

Wyoming Tribune-Eagle Cheyenne, WY 29 Dec 2006 Elvera Lofink 1914-2006 Elvera Lofink, 92, of Torrington died Dec. 28 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. She was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Loveland, Colo., the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Lenhart) Backman. Mrs. Lofink grew up and received her education in Colorado before moving to Torrington. She worked for Mrs. Holden's Clothing Store in Torrington and later worked at the L.B. Murphy Co. clothing store in Torrington. She married Albert "Slim" Lofink on Feb. 4, 1934, in Yoder, near where they farmed for many years. She served as the school cook at the Yoder School for eight years. She retired and moved to Torrington in 1978. She was a long-time member of the South Goshen Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Lofink is survived by two sons, LaVerne Lofink of Thermopolis and Larry Lofink of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Ralph and Sonny Backman; and one sister, Edna Backman. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel. Wyoming Tribune-Eagle Cheyenne, WY 29 Dec 2006 Henrietta Fahrenbruch 1907-2006 Henrietta Fahrenbruch, 99, of Cheyenne died Dec. 21 at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne. She was born Feb. 6, 1907, in McCook, Neb. Mrs. Fahrenbruch was a sales clerk at the Spic & Span Bakery, and manager of Safeway Bakery. She was a member of the Zion Congregational Church, Order of Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter No. 36 and the Railroad Retirement Club. Mrs. Fahrenbruch is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Fahrenbruch on May 25, 1973; her parents, Conrad and Barbara Eckhart; four brothers; and five sisters. The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with the Rev. Elmer Wilhelm officiating. Interment will be in McCook. Friends may contribute to Zion Congregational Church. Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
