    1. [GV] Searching on Dalhaimer (Dalheimer, Thalheimer), Herrmann (Hermann), Reimer and Herzog
    2. Anna Bartkowski
    3. All of my ancestors were Germans from Russia and I am interested in knowing if anyone else is researching the same family lines. I am researching the following names. . * Dalhaimer, Dalheimer, Thalheimer-Christopher Thalheimer was one of the founding members of Mariental, Russia. His descendent Johannes Dalheimer (my paternal grandfather) immigrated through Ellis Island with his wife Clementine Hermann Thalheimer in 1913 and 1918. They were born In Mariental and married there in 1912. * My grandmother Sophie Reimer immigrated with her parents Philip and Anna Maria not once, but twice through Ellis Island in 1903 and 1922. They settled in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Sophie married Fred Herzog in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. All of them came from Reinwald, Russia although I have not yet located Fred's name on a passenger list. I am also pursuing information on the following names since I have ties to these families: Gusman from Orbach, Russia; Bauer from Schaeffer, Russia; Spbes (?) Mariental, Russia. I would be happy to hear from anyone researching these family lines. Anna Dalhaimer Bartkowski

    1. [GV] Berta and Haus Eifert from Basanovka, Russia
    2. I am looking for anyone who is realated to Haus (Harvey) and Berta (Bertha) Eifert. Berta and Heinrich, who immigrated through Philadelphia, June 1914 on the ship Chemnitz whith son Heinrich (Henry) at age of 2. She was going to meet Haus Eifert. Then I can't find them in the 1920 census anywhere. But, in 1930 they are in Mount Pleasant, Racine Co, Wisconsin. Haus immigrated in 1912 and Bertha and Henry in 1914. Haus is now called Harvey, age 42, married at 21 and born in Russia Bertha, age 41, married at 20, born in Russia Henry, age 18 b. Russia Rose, age 14 b. WI Alexander, age 11, b. WI Olga, age 9, b. WI Robert, age 8, WI Carl, age 6, WI William, age 3, WI Henry worked for the railroad as per his social security info. I found WWII registrations for Alex, Robert, Carl and William. Alexander b. July 1, 1918, D. 10/20/1960- enlisted in Racine, WI, was single. Is buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Robert b. May 10 (22), 1922 enlisted in Denver, was married and living in Weld Co, Colorado. U.S. Army Tec 4. Social Sec. death record says born May 22nd, 1922 and died Nov 14, 1998 in Dillon, Beaverhead Co, MT and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon, MT and was divorced at time of death. Carl b. June 21, 1923 enlisted in CO. COX US Navy, WWII, d. June 6, 1969 and is buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. His wife Louise b. Nov 3, 1920 d. Dec 2, 2001 is also buried with him at Ft. Logan. William b. 1927 enlisted in Denver, was single at the time and died in Denver May 1975 and probably at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. This family fits your description better and is probably why Henry was told to say he was born in WI, since all his siblings were. I haven't found anything on the females and I haven't found the cemetery or death dates for Henry's parents (Harvey and Bertha). It is possible they moved to Colorado since that is where Henry's brothers appeared to go. Suggest you put a request for assistance on the Racine, WI message board, Weld County, CO and Denver message boards, Winnebago Co, Illinois message boards asking for cemetery info and death dates for his parents and a separate message for information on the marriage of the females. also: Rhiney b. January 31, 1934 d. 2/17/1961 and is buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver where Carl, William and Alexander are buried. I do feel like I am missing one child of Berta and Haus, my Grandfather Henry said he was the oldest of 9 children. Would love to here if anyone is related. 3. Carl, Here are a couple of sites for you to try: www.ahsgr.org This is the site for the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. There is a Salwasser chart listed (this means someone paid to have this name researched in Russia and you can purchase a copy from AHSGR) if it is your branch. Most of us would do almost anything to have a Pleve Family Chart. www.webbitt.com This is another good site for research. There are others. I suggest you Google - German Volga Salwasser and go through the ones listed. Hope this helps. Elaine

    1. [GV] Obit, Molly Kaiser Brano
    2. Henry L. Schmick
    3. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 30 Mar 2007 LAUREL - Molly Kaiser Brano was born, raised and lived her entire life in Laurel, and left her earthly home on March 28, 2007, just six days after her 92nd birthday. Molly made her journey to Heaven in the early morning hours to meet Jesus face to face and to be reunited with her loved ones that went on before. Molly accepted Jesus as her Savior many years ago and was always ready to witness for her Lord. She and her husband Pete were charter members of the Grace Bible Church in Laurel. Molly Kaiser was born in Laurel in the "Kaiser House" on Durland Avenue on March 22, 1915. Her parents were German immigrants, Henry and Katherine (Lehr) Kaiser. Henry and Katherine left their home in Neu Messer, Russia, and went to Canada before settling in Laurel to live and raise their family. Relatives and friends would love to hear the stories that Molly would tell about growing up in a large German-Russian family. She related many times that she was chosen by her father "to get the cow!" Other interesting tales Molly told were about working at the Dutch Mill in downtown Laurel and about how she met her husband Pete. "I remember so well meeting Pete at the Roller Skating Rink. He was a tall, dark, handsome Italian with a little black mustache." Pete came to Laurel from Colorado with his siblings to live with relatives in Laurel. Molly was thankful that they came to Laurel so she would get a husband. "I didn't want a German," she always stated with a little mischievous chuckle in her voice. Molly loved fall because that's when she fell in love and got married. Pete and Molly were married on Sept. 17, 1932, and were married for 67 years before he went home to be with the Lord. Molly was "Mrs. Clean," she told her niece many times, "The Lord gave each one of us a talent. I guess mine is being a scrubwoman." And indeed she was. Anyone could have gone to her home and given it the "White Glove Test" and she and her home would have passed with flying colors. Molly was preceded in death by her husband Pete; her parents; and four sisters, Mary Kaiser, Lydia Fox, Rachael Baus and Leona Peterson. Survivors include a son, Pete (Elaine) Brano of Billings; and a daughter, Shirley (Glenn) Hannon of Spokane, Wash. Molly also leaves behind six grandchildren, Christie (Jess) Conitz, Michael (Kelley) Brano, Anetta Hannon, Nathaniel Hannon, Dr. Matthew (Bridget) Hannon and Priscilla Hannon (Don Reetz); plus four great-grandchildren, Kyle Brano, Morgan Brano, Ty Conitz and Clare Hannon. Molly is also survived by two brothers, Henry (Lois) Kaiser of Laurel, Alex (Delila) Kaiser of Billings; and one sister, Martha Yates of Pasco, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, at Smith Funeral Chapel, 315 E. Third St., Laurel. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Grace Bible Church or Rocky Mountain Hospice.

    1. [GV] Obit, Karl Herman Ullrich
    2. Henry L. Schmick
    3. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 29 Mar 2007 BROADUS - Karl Herman Ullrich, age 86, of Broadus, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Powder River Manor in Broadus. Karl was born in a rock house built by his father in Wason Flats, 60 miles north of Miles City, on Jan. 28, 1921. Karl attended a German-speaking elementary school five miles from their homestead. In 1927, the family bought the Bud Devasher land, northeast of Broadus, where Karl would spend most of the rest of his life. Karl attended the Durst School, two miles north of their new home through the eighth grade. During the drought of the '30s, the Ullrich family moved to Billings to find employment. Karl worked at various odd jobs, including cleaning out flooded basements and hauling produce door to door to supplement the family income. Karl graduated from high school while the family resided in Billings. Karl served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic. In 1940, they moved back to the family ranch near Broadus and built the new ranch house in 1946. Karl married Ruby Griff in 1948. The couple resided in a dugout and worked for Elmer Watters. They bought the Ullrich ranch from his parents in 1958, where Karl worked until retiring to the Eagles Manor in Miles City in 2003. Karl and Ruby had two sons, Victor (born in 1953) and Vernon (born in 1957). They later separated. Karl was a man of very few words, but his kindness and unconditional love will long be remembered by his family and friends. He was a master rancher and cattleman who had walked every inch of his ranch (mostly in his one man war against weeds). His grandchildren have golden memories of long walks, being pulled in the wagon, horseback rides, ice skating on the river and the endless supply of butterscotch candies in his front shirt pocket. His children knew him as a man with a quiet determination, an unquestionable work ethic and a love of the land and the Powder River. He was an expert card player. Karl was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Broadus and a longstanding member of the Broadus Farmers Union. Karl is survived by two brothers, Richard of Puyallup, Wash., and Albert of Chinook; and one sister, Ruth Watters of Helena. He is also survived by two sons, Victor (Laura Lee) of the family ranch and Vern (Kay) of Biddle. The love of his life were his grandchildren: Amy (Tom) Minow of Broadus, Dr. Jennifer (Rob) Mattingley of La Crosse, Wis., Lieutenant Doug (Laura) Ullrich of Tucson, Ariz., Adam and Jason Ullrich of Biddle and five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Leah and Hudson Mattingley, and Miranda and Kyle Minow. He is also survived by over 65 nieces and nephews. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Frieda Ullrich; his sisters, Esther (Tony) Gali, Gertrude (Fred) Schillreff and Freida Ullrich; his sisters-in-law, Ilene Ullrich and Florence Ullrich; and a brother-in-law, George Watters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Broadus. Interment will be held at a later date. 3. Henry, I appreciate your dedication in placing obits on the list. I have special interest in this one, since we were tenant farmers on the Heiser farm from 1946-48. I was about 12 and Shirley was 17. I barely remember her then. The Heiser place was Dad's first effort at farming on his own. Marven Weitzel On Wed, 28 Mar 2007 07:40:32 -0700 "Henry L. 3. Fort Collins, Colorado Coloradoan Article published Mar 25, 2007 Roy Hofferber BOB:2/11/1922 DOD:3/20/2007 Roy Hofferber passed away peacefully March 20, 2007, at Poudre Valley Hospital. Roy was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Loveland to Carl and Anna Hofferber. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1941 and spent the following year in Denver working for Remington Arms. Soon after, he enlisted in the Navy on Dec. 7, 1942, one year after Pearl Harbor. He was a pharmacist's mate first class and was on 13 islands across the South Pacific during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in November 1945, he met Margaret Feit of Fort Collins. They dated for three months and were married Feb. 10, 1946. When Margaret passed away, they had been married for 59 years. For 16 years following his return, he worked as a plasterer and owned his own company. During the early 1960s he decided to leave the plastering business and began working for Woodward Governor in Fort Collins, staying 25 years. He retired from the company in 1987. Roy was an attentive and caring dad, a wonderful husband and a friend to many. Roy and Margaret used to square dance with the Collinaders and enjoyed attending Colorado Aggies (CSU) football games. At the age of 44, he learned to ski, and the family has many memories of fun ski vacations. After their retirement, he and Margaret enjoyed traveling to Arizona and spending time at their cabin in the Poudre Canyon. He enjoyed working in the garage and was known to be able to make just about anything. He enjoyed fishing at their cabin and spending time with the various friends they made there. One thing he enjoyed up until his passing was his twice-a-day coffee meetings at the IHOP. No matter the weather, he always made it to meet and spend time with his buddies. He also loved attending concerts and field trips through the Senior Center with friends. He was a loving grandpa and loved the role of "Poppers," the name given to him by his eldest granddaughter, Katie. He received so much joy from them and taught them so many things that they have taken with them into their lives. He made it a point to make it to all the grandkids' various musical programs at school and always sat in the same seat. He was a proud Poppers and loved every minute of the time he spent with his grandchildren. Roy will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. He had a vibrant spirit and always was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. His big smile and blue eyes touched many hearts. He is survived by his daughter, Debra; son-in-law Jeff Wood; granddaughter, Katie of Denver; Danielle Wood; and grandsons Josh and Mitchell Wood of Fort Collins. He also leaves behind two brothers, Donald Hofferber of Denver and Walter Hofferber of Grand Junction; many loving nieces and nephews; and his friend and companion, Ramona Parker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents, Carl and Anna Hofferber; and one brother, Melvin Hofferber. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 W. Prospect Road, with military honors by the All Fort Collins Veterans Honor Guard. A private family interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Senior Center or Plymouth Congregational Church in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
