Scottsbluff Star Hearld Scottsbluff, NE 2 Jun 2007 RIO LINDA, Calif. - Robert L. Suhr, formerly of Bayard died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at home of natural causes. Memorial services were held May 13, in Sacramento, Calif. Inurnment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff at a later date. Robert was born Feb. 27, 1929. He married Mildred Schlauger Nov. 14, 1954 in Scottsbluff. They had five children. He enlisted in the Army in 1948. Robert worked for B&C Steel in 1952, he moved to California in 1958. He worked running heavy equipment. Survivors include sons, Robin Suhr, Rio Linda, Harold Suhr, Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Sheila Suhr, Sacramento, Sharon Ballaglia, Sacramento; sisters, Anna Simmons, Cheyenne, Wyo. Dorothy Fillis, Gering, Bernice Whitehead, Durant, Okla., and Patricia (Richard) Kraus, Greeley, Colo. Preceding him in death were his parents, Louie and Martha (Rayborn) Suhr, son Dale Suhr, a brother and two sisters.
Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 06-02-2007 Ruth Snorgrass Dec. 10, 1918-May 19, 2007 Age: 88 Residence: Council, Idaho, formerly of Keenesburg Tribute: Ruth Ethel Snorgrass was born in Greeley to John F. and Hallie Ethel (Werkheiser) Oster. In 1940, she married Wade Andy Snorgrass in Fort Lupton. Mrs. Snorgrass lived in Keenesburg for more than 60 years. In 1998, she moved to Council to live with her son Butch and daughter-in-law Becky. During the summers of 1953, 1954 and 1955, she and her husband and sons, Wade and Butch, owned and operated a duderanch on Lookout Mountain. Mrs. Snorgrass was a longtime Tupperware dealer in the Keenesburg area. She sewed many colorful quilt tops that she gave to many family members and friends. Mrs. Snorgrass had a wonderful sense of humor, a delightful smile and a generous heart. She died May 19 in Council. Survivors: A son, Floyd "Butch" and wife Becky of Council; four brothers, Ted and Jim of La Salle, John of Kersey and Ivan of Lochbuie; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by: Her husband in 1979, a son Wade in 1984, her parents, three brothers, Lewis, Richard and Floyd Oster and a sister, Joy Kreitzer. Olinda Ostwald Schneider Weibert At the age of 85, Olinda Weibert, our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend died peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Billings Health and Rehab. She was born Olinda Ostwald on Oct. 13, 1921, in Bridger, the daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth (Fox) Ostwald. Linda graduated from Laurel High School. In April of 1940, Linda was united in marriage to Alex Schneider in Hardin. They raised three children. After 46 years of marriage, Alex died in 1986. The summer of 1989, Linda married Henry Weibert in Columbus, where they lived for three years before moving to Billings. Henry died in 1997. Linda was a devoted member of the Christ Evangelical & Reformed Church in Hardin. Her hobbies included gardening, caring for her yard and the beautiful flowers she grew and she was an avid reader. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Alex and Henry; sisters, Lydia, Martha and Betty; brothers, Edward, Harry, Bill, Harold, Herman and baby George; great-grandson, Jack Arbogast, Jr.; two sons-in-law, Jack Arbogast, Sr. and Seth Kates. She leaves behind her daughter, Lorelei Kates of Billings; sons, Alex (Pam) Schneider, Jr. of Butte and Aubrey (Judy) Schneider of Billings; sister, Marge (Lloyd) Schell of Billings; brothers, Eugene (Judy) of Thompson Falls, George (Genie) of Columbus and Frank (Sandy) of Shepherd; sisters-in-law, Vera Weibert of Hardin and Katherine Hartung of Garryowen; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Linda's family would like the extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Billings Health and Rehab for the kindness and special care given during her stay with them. Also, her roommate, Alvina, who was Linda's best friend, thank you for being there and remaining such a good friend. Visitation for Olinda was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the E & R Church in Hardin. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hardin. Memorials may be made to the E&R Church in Hardin or to the charity of one's choice. She was born June 5, 1920, in Expansion, N.D., and had lived here for eight years with prior residence of seven years in Richardton, N.D., and 42 years on the family ranch. Mrs. Ehli was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary and AARP. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carol Ehli of Moore, Okla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Michael Rushing of Cheyenne; a brother, Albert Wittmayer of Hazen, N.D.; two sisters, Frieda Lukins of Pick City, N.D., and Earna Sailer of Hazen; one grandchild; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Ehli and Frieda Ehli, both of Arizona and Mary Ehli of Kansas. Mrs. Ehli was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Ehli Jr. on Dec. 25, 1998; two sons, Ronald Ehli and Robert Ehli; a daughter, Darlene Ehli; six brothers; and two sisters. She loved to play bingo and do crafts and had the unique ability of being loved by all that met her. He was a longtime resident of the North Platte Valley, having lived in Scottsbluff, Lyman, and Mitchell for most all of 95 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsbluff. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Jolliffe Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Lawrence was born Aug. 6, 1908, in Frank, Russia - one of the Volga German communities from which many Western Nebraska families immigrated. With his parents, George and Anna Marie (Heizenrader) Sell, and four older siblings (Molly, John, Pauline, and Alexander), he came to the US as a small boy in 1912 through Ellis Island. Traveling by rail from New York City to initially live with relatives in Morrill. His family worked over the next decades as seasonal laborers on farms and in sugar factories. In addition, he drove gas and ready-mix trucks and sold used cars. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing and baseball. He married Lydia Schledewitz (who also came to the US with her family as a two-year old from Yost, Russia) Jan. 30, 1928. Together, they raised three sons and three daughters. Those who knew Lawrence recognized him as someone with a great memory for names, places, and events. His conversations often connected people he met with relatives, friends, and personal histories. He will long be remembered for this great capacity to recall and honor the past, including the spiritual aspects of life. Survivors include his daughters, Betty (Vic) Loose and Elsie (Reiny) Foos, both of Scottsbluff; son, G. Roger (Bobbi) Sell of Springfield, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren. He and his wife farmed northeast of Scottsbluff until 1956. He then worked a number of years as a tank wagon driver for Kuxhaus Oil Company before moving to Montana in 1975 to farm with his son Roger. They returned to Scottsbluff in 1979 where he helped on various farms in the area until his retirement. Harry loved to build and collect model tractors, but the true joy in his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was a member of the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff Survivors include his sons, Ralph and his wife Jeannetta Burbach of Gering and Russell and his wife Joanie Burbach of Holdrege, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Karlene Burbach of Glendive, Mont.; grandchildren, Terry and his wife Bonnie Burbach of Fallon, Mont., Gregory and his wife Naomi Burbach of Glendive, Randy and his wife Vicki Burbach of Minatare, Sheri and her husband Brandon Grover of Gering and Mike and his wife Jill Burbach of Centennial, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Joy Burbach, Taylor Burbach, Amanda and her husband Bobby Hopper, Jordan Burbach, Ella Burbach, Ryan Burbach and Jacob Grover and a great-great grandson, Mason Hopper. She owned Woody's Café in Greeley for years and then worked many years for the Ault Sanitation Board. Mrs. Magnuson was a member of the Lutheran Church of Ault and the V.F.W. Post No. 4334. She was known for her friendly style and good sense of humor. She was loved and respected in her community and by her family and friends. Mrs. Magnuson died Sunday at The Bridge in Greeley. No, in Russia there was no kidnapping for the army, because there was a national conscription or military service for which every able-bodied man was eligible, unless he was the only son or the main breadwinner in the family. It lasted about 4-5 years (depending on intake). Not all were taken in, but some were placed in reserves or on standby. I think Russia still has a national service (military call up). He grew up in Fort Morgan, where he also attended schools. He farmed in the Fort Morgan area before moving to Loveland 50 years ago. He then farmed in the Loveland area until he retired in 1968. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Loveland, he loved fishing, bowling, the dog track, and he enjoyed his friends who would pick him up to go for coffee time. He also received the High Ten for his sugar beets for 13 years. Mr. Spade died May 26 at Centennial Health Care Center in Greeley. Kraft was born in *Oberdorf, Russia *to George and Anna Elizabeth (Weitzel) Schneider. She came to the United State in October 1913 and lived in Greeley her entire life. On Jan. 19, 1936, she married George R. Kraft in Greeley. He died on Feb. 14, 1992. Mr. Kraft worked in the laundry department at the Weld County General Hospital and she and her husband owned and operated the Dairy Creme on 7th Avenue and 14th Street for 29 years, retiring in 1969. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Congregational Church and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She also was a member of the AMICA Club in Greeley and had lived at the Greeley Place for 15 1/2 years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and she loved activities with her family. Mrs. Kraft died Friday, May 25, at Centennial Health Center in Greeley. Survivors: A daughter, Joann Weinmeister of Greeley; two grandsons, Lauren and his wife Krista Weinmeister of Johnstown, and Mark Weinmeister of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Karen and her husband Mark Sitzman of Greeley, and Vivian and her husband Brian Foss of Eaton; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granchildren. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 25 May 2007 LAUREL - Allan Frank, 46, of Billings, died peacefully on May 23, 2007, at the Horizon House, where he had recently resided. Allan was born on Sept. 30, 1960, to Elsie and Herman Frank, both of Laurel. Allan was raised in Laurel, where he graduated from Laurel High School in 1978. After graduation, Allan worked in retail for many years and then as a certified nurse's aidw in several area nursing homes. Allan loved working with the elderly and brought much comfort to all those that he touched in his short life. We will truly miss his smile and kind heart. Allan was preceded in death by his parents. Allan is survived by his brother, Gerald (Jody); his brother, Ken (Maureen); and his sister, Karen (Steve) Frickel. Allan was a loving uncle to Jill (Karson), Jeremy (Maggie), Kara (Mark), Kim (Wade), Travis, Chloe and Liam and a loving great-uncle to Halle, Jenna, Josh, Justin and Kaycee.
