    3. I have often wondered why these charts are not in a computer format, such as Family Tree Maker. While I know the handwritten charts are a treasure, I would think it would be easier for the Pleve's to use a computer generated program to enter the information. It seems it would also be easier for the person receiving the chart on a disk to enter the information onto their computer program. ...just a thought.... Elaine

    3. I was wondering with all the Pleve Family Charts out there in "genealogy land" if anyone has actually indexed or put all the names on any type of database format like Family Tree Maker. I am sure many of you like me have a number of these charts, some of which, like for instance, the Norka Muller chart, are very large and contain hundreds of names. If you are like me I used the chart for the names and families I needed for my own research and pretty well ignored the rest. However, the more I study the charts I see more and more familiar names that I have run across in other places. I kind of feel like I am rambling on so I better quit. I hope my question makes sense even if the idea of actually doing something like this may be impractical and monumental. I would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks for your time. Glen A. Frederick

    3. Hallo Maybe somebody can help me. I'm looking for info on my grandmothers aunt and their descendents. Heinrich Machleit or Machlein married Marie Stang (my grandma's aunt) and moved with 7 sons and 2 daughters (may have had more kids) in 1924 from Yagodnaya Polyana to USA. My Grandma Lydia Stang born 1919 in YP is still alive and remembers yet to receive packages from her aunt in USA. My Grandma stayed in Russia and moved to Germany in 1989. She also recalls from a letter from USA that her aunt lost a few children during a plant explosion in a factory in USA. Unfortunately we don't have more info. Would somebody out there help to located their descendents. I did try different searches with no luck. Marie Stang must have been born between 1870-1890 Thanks Have a great day Alex Boxhorn _________________________________________________________________ News, entertainment and everything you care about at Live.com. 1. [GV] genetics
    2. I was curious about something, maybe someone can shed a light on it. My grandparents came from YP in 1907. They had 12 children. There parents came from Germany and settled down in Russia. What i find interesting is that my aunts and uncles were short, some had jet black hair, and brown eyes. As they got older they seem to take on some Jewish features, like the nose tended to be a hook nose which i think is prominent for the Jewish person. Another thing interesting is that the skin color was a dark olive. My daughter is dark and I'm dark. So, I'm wondering if i have some Jewish genes is that possible? 3. Hi Charles & Vera I have to agree with both of you. But would like to add my thought trough own experience. I was one of the million immigrants from Russia in Germany. Since 2000 I live in Canada. Although I went to school in Germany from 1988 grade 3-10 and plus 3 years of apprenticeship after school yet. As far as I remember we never learned anything about Germans moving to Russia between 1767 - 1860 and never anything about German colonies in Russia. I was interested a bit in history at that time and was told of our the background from my Grandparents, that Germans moved to different parts in Russia etc...long time ago. My Ancestors came mostly from Yagodnaya Polyana and Paulskaya. Many local inhabitants in Germany wouldn't really know anything about this history. Even today my cousin living in Germany says that many local "Germans" don't know the real background of the German-Russian immigrants. And Vera, you are right as well. There is lots of crime going on between those immigrants, Turkish immigrants and local German people. 3. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 30 Jul 2007 CASCASE - John D. "Jack" Reitz, 72, of Cascade, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at his home of natural causes. His memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel on Tuesday, July 31, at 2 p.m. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com. John D. "Jack" Reitz was the beloved husband of Mary Lyn for 46 years; dearest father of Michael (Pam), Marie (Rob) Doremus, Melanie (Paul) Bjelajac, Rita (Bart) Bauer and Matthew (Dawn); adoring grandfather of eight wonderful grandchildren, Nick, Jackie, Ryan, Bailey, Erich, Garrett, Helen, Cooper; dear brother of Sister Mary Reitz and Jim (Robbie) Reitz; brother¬-in-law of Sue (Phil) Wenski, Lois (Terry) Richardson and Joan Bradac; and son-¬in-law of Evelyn Bradac. Jack was one of the last true cowboys; there "wasn't a story that couldn't be told or a horse that couldn't be rode." His skill and passion for baseball and basketball earned him the nickname "Lefty", that's still recognized 60 years later. Although a world traveler, he was happiest at Glacier National Park. Family and friends have wonderful memories of shared times outdoors on the river, fishing, hiking, picking fruit and driving "Stubbie." We are sure that heaven now has an ample supply of salt for their water conditioners, their cattle and highways, and that no heavenly lawn is cluttered with unsightly branches. Even though his lawn mower and chain saw have gone silent, we know he has not. In fact he has probably already engaged Jesus in a lively discussion on politics or religion. We'll miss you as our husband, father, and friend. Donations may be sent to Peace Hospice of Montana, 2600 15th Ave. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.
