GEORGIA ARCHIVES NEWS On Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. the Georgia Archives will cut a cake to celebrate 85th birthday! The first annual report of the director of the department mentions that: "In accordance with the provision of a law enacted by the 1918 session of the Legislature, a meeting of the State Historical Commission, composed of the heads of State Departments, was called for 3 o'clock in the afternoon, September 10, 1918, to organize the Department of Archives and History for the State of Georgia." Please come and celebrate this auspicious occasion with us.
