    3. This Jacob Brooks is of no relation to me or the Brooks in my database; however, I found the article interesting enough to mark it in the book in which it was found, and I though that it might be of interest to you in your research of Jacob Brooks. Supposedly, this information was extracted from the February 7, 1829, issues of "The Southern Recorder," and is contained in a book titled: "Genealogical Material from Legal Notices in Early Georgia Newspapers" abstracted by the late Judge Folks Huxford, F.A.S.G. and published by the Southern Historical Press, Inc., Easley, SC, ISBN 0-89308-656-8. This article pertains to some controversy that existed in 1828-29 over the proper location of the old boundary line between the Creeks and Cherokee Indians since it became the boundary of the lands ceded by the Creek Indians in 1825. The Cherokee Indians disputed the line. A lengthy report is made in the Recorder in the issue above referred to, anent the findings of the Governor's commissioner in the matter. Since the testimony of several witnesses was taken wherein some information is given of, more or less genealogical value, a brief abstract is included. What follows is the abstract for Jacob Brooks. "Jacob R. Brooks of DeKalb county testified he has resided on the Chattahoochee River since 1819 and had a transient residence there for a few years previously to 1819. He had talked with natives and citizens of the Cherokee Nation about their boundry [sic] line and until 1821 had understood the line ran from Suwannee Old Town to the Chattahoochee and thence on a creek called Alah-Kulsee (the dividing line) . . . from there to Wills Creek." The Southern Recorder was published in Milledgeville, Georgia. It is my understanding that The University of Georgia in Athens has compiled a list of references to where microfilm copies of this newspaper might be viewed, should you so desire to review the complete article. Can anyone fill in the missing generation or provide me with documentation for this line? Joab Brooks was born abt. 1712 to John Brooks and Winifred ? (some researchers added Susan Narsin to Winifred's name about 15 years ago - which is not proven. ). There is documentation for Winifred's name. In 1735, Joab married Catherine Dimmaux (b. abt. 1715 in VA) in Chatham County, NC. (Searching for Sources) MYSTERY: Their first child was not born until 1770, THIRTY-FIVE YEARS after the marriage. Catherine would have been 55 years old. And she had Six Kids in Five Years! Not. Nope. Nuh-uh. POSSIBLE ERRORS: 1.)Date of birth/marriage of Catherine Dimmaux 2.) A missing younger second wife 3.)A missing generation. 4.)Children mistakenly assigned to this couple because of the name, Joab Jr. 5.)The researcher shares my poor math skills. 6.)Its a Miracle!
