Delilah, I have wills of my ancestors and when there is an X there it means someone signed for them The X is their mark and someone else wriote their name. This is on the wills I have , I don't know how it's used other places. Sandra
That explanation on the 'X' made more sense than mine - guess I was thinking now as they put NMN or NMI with those that have no middle name/initial - so thats probably correct. delilah At 09:36 8/27/03 EDT, you wrote: >Delilah, > >I have wills of my ancestors and when there is an X there it means someone >signed for them > >The X is their mark and someone else wriote their name. > >This is on the wills I have , I don't know how it's used other places. > >Sandra > > >==== GEORGIA Mailing List ==== >NOTICE: Posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political >announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, >etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. >Consideration for exceptions, contact Kathleen Burnett kathleenburnett@earthlink.net > >============================== >To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: >http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
