On a recent research trip to Georgia State Archives I discovered Thomas Levirett received 200 acres of land in 1785 on the headrights of Robert Tucker. Does this mean that Levirett was related to Tucker? How could Levirett receive land on Tucker's headright if he was not a relative? Could he purchase this land from Tucker? Upon a review of the original warrant of Robert Tucker, I found nothing written on the back of the warrant giving Thomas Levirett right to the 200 acres. I understand this to mean the land named on the original warrant probably was not given to Thomas Levirett. My conclusion is that even though Thomas was authorized to have the land, he actually did not receive the 200 acres. Could someone verify or clarify this for me? Thank you for considering my request.
