I see now that your Rootsweb mailing list is a RACIST, as well as a RACE-DISCRIMINATING mailing list. This has diminished my faith and respect for the Rootsweb mailing lists, in general. I am NOT a racist! I am caucasian, but I have many, many black friends. Furthermore, I have helped numerous black people on other Rootsweb lists to trace their lineage, as well as people who have heard about my expertise and contacted me personally. Your group continually states that white Southerners do not want them to trace their roots and are looking for ways to hinder them--this is preposterous, and nothing could be further from the truth! On the many Rootsweb lists to which I belong, when a black person requests help, numerous (white) people jump at the chance to assist them. We ALL WANT TO HELP you because we know your research is even more difficult than our own. It is persons like yourself and like SOME on your list GA-AfricaAmer-L@rootsweb.com who wish to continue the racial strife in this country by your negative inuendos and venomous remarks. As long as this poison is spread, there will, indeed, be racial tension, and you will never realize the full potential that white assistance can render in your research. I wish all of you well and truly hope you will one day realize that not all Southern white people, or white people in general, are the enemy.
