    3. Ralph, I may be wrong (it's happened before), but I believe passports were issued by the Governors of Georgia (and perhaps others?) for travel through Cherokee and/or Creek territory. There have been at least a couple of books published which are a compilation of copies of these passports. You should be able to locate the books through your local library or at Amazon.com by searching for "Passports Issued by Georgia Governors". A search without the years added should bring up both - and others, if there are more I don't know about. Good luck!
