RE: What kind of research are you doing? My great great grandfather fought in the Creek War in 1836. David I am interested in learning more of the history of the 1836 Creek Indian War. Thanks to: Richard White http://tfn.net/~cdk901/index.html and Harry Folsomhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~gataylor/crkindw.htm#news , I have a better understanding of the War. From the above websites, I learned the following: May 20, 1836 The Columbus Sentinel published the following list of Georgia Militia Companies that had arrived: County Drafted/Volunteers Captain # Harris Drafted VARDERMAN 62 Also, that H.H.DOWE was an officer from Harris County. GA. Does anyone have information on Harris County Companies/lists of the men? I am looking for SAMUEL TURMAN. Family history says that my g.g. grandfather, "SAMUEL TURMAN and his family moved from Elbert Co, GA. to Harris Co, GA, a little previous to 1836 or 37, when he volunteered in the Creek Indian War. He died from bilious fever contracted in that war." Thank you, David, Richard and Harry for your responses! Eugenia
