I don't know as much about the Cherokee War 1838 -- so need some help on identifying this location. Is "New Echota" different from "Echota" in Gordon County. (Pass this along to any surname or county lists that might be able to help. Some of these men eventually probably settled in Alabama and also Florida) Linda has typed this, but we're trying to figure out more about where this company was raised from...and about the individuals involved. If we could place all the officers in a county vicinity that would help. I really appreciate those of you who have shared something about your ancestor in these wars of this time period. We're gradually getting more and more on-line thanks to all of you! Also if any of you are able to get copies of rosters while you're at the Georgia Archives, that would help us so much.
