Linda, Many of the early inmates were buried on the hospital grounds. I have a Poteet relation who was buried there in the early years of the sanitarium, and my cousin, JennieVee Poteet Pitts, was somehow able to get copies of his medical and burial records about thirty or thirty-five years ago. At that time, I was very much "into" genealogy with her, but not as interested in her branch as she. I should have paid better attention, but that was a long time ago, and I am not as clear on the facts now as I might be. I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that the hospital had kept a sort of numbering-system chart for those on-site burials, the majority in unmarked graves, and may possibly be able to identify those burials if necessary. Check with the Baldwin County Historical Society in case any of those burials have been recorded and published. Good luck!
